Probly a derp question but what do those letters next to our team names mean? j/a, k/b etc...

Edit: Also had to look up what Gunlock even was  Layer Section... Rayforce... get your shit together and pick a name Taito <_< Never been a fan of this game, but I've also never given it a far chance. We will see how the week goes I guess.

I'm a bit worried though, not sure if my epicly shitty PC can even run 3D games in MAME. If worse comes to worse can I just play my Japanese Saturn copy and take a picture of the screen for registering my score?

yeah you can do that lol
the letters are a reference for me from this
http://challonge.com/shootemup
first letter being the match
second letter being team a or team b
yeah i played this game pretty tough but i am not that good at shootemup to begin with

Came across this when trawling through the ST -- posts seem to indicate that the Saturn port doesn't default to arcade difficulty?

Thanks for that info. As it turns out though this wasn't what I was thinking of and it runs in MAME fine. I was thinking of the 3D sequel. I don't think I ever spent much time with this one, probly only popped it in the Saturn once which explains why I forgot it was 2D. Seems pretty fun from what I played tonight but I don't have any more time to practice so I'll just drop this initial kusoscore:

I've played this a bit a couple of years ago on the Saturn.
This week looks pretty intense but hopefully i'll be able to get some practice in.

The game is also available as part of some Taito compilations as Rayforce, including a native Windows version.

Not sure if there are scoring differences between any of the ports though.

This week seeding round teams ranked # 1 untill # 8 will play vs the winners of Elimination round 1
Those teams who have lost during Elimination Round 1 will play next week against those teams who will lose Elimination Round 2.

Kollision - 1,808,300 - P1 side - 5

SEE NEW SCORE

Fried on the boss's green lasers, I didn't remember what to do there....

On a side note, I don't remember having as much slowdown in any of the Saturn or PS2 ports of Rayforce.
There are times here (mainly when you unleahs lots of lasers on the 2nd stage) where the thing pretty much crawls.

For some reason I was under the impression our opponent this week was a no-show but that's apparently not the case. Better quit dicking around in Salamander 2 and focus on this one when I get home tonight...

oh right, you can't use external autofire with the game's rapid fire enabled.

guess i gotta play fair.

yeah i'm not sure what's with that. on one hand, taito f3 is really weird and it's likely that they tried to "fix" the game for the port, especially since they even had to change the name. on the other hand, taito f3 is really weird and i'm not sure mame has figured it all out yet.

edit:

Despatche - 1,436,900 - 4

forgot how to fight boss 4, derp.

Btw Chepstow? I've been there a couple of times, got a mate there. I shall use this knowledge to DEFEAT YOU!!!

This tourney had me playing flying shark a lot earlier than i would have, and i hadn't even heard of Rayforce until now.. this game is freakin' awesome!!

Pretty sure there is not supposed to be any slowdown whatsoever.

Not sure, the game might be a bit more resource intensive than other mame games. I'm using Shmupmame 2.2 in any case.

Damn lasers (again). :?

I did some cleaning in my PC and the slowdown seems to have improved a little.

The worst thing about games with slow moving ships and no smart bombs is that you can see see most of your deaths before they actually happen.
