Sounds like it could be fun..... may you say
*scratches chin*

Printing a load of tees with the possibility of them not shifting is a little scary for me. If I did I doubt I would do more than say 15 but maybe do some to order and take them along for discount. I would love to print a shmups goes to stunfest tee though for the people going :D

Looking at trains, is £179 a decent fare with return?

Could you share me a link to the hotel you've booked spadge? I'd rather be in the same place as everyone else!

Do we know when the super players will be appearing? I'm not sure how many days I can stretch my "illness" to!

DEL, did they come and hang out with the crowd afterwards? It would be pretty cool to meet them, and also good to get to know the European crowd.

Oh Yes JWS, they came and hung out with us alright 8)
Kamui and NAK were very friendly. Clover-TAC is a rather more reserved guy, but he came out and talked to us as well and played in front of us on the cabs too.

Yeah, I was bored. (Time set to when the train leaves London for Paris. :3)
Also, nice to see more people coming down. Looks like we're going to have ourselves a pretty big meet, almost on par with London Meet 4?

London Meet 4 was the Biggie. About 32 people and it kinda lasted two weeks. YOU were the guilty party there. Stretching it out to the full extent of the jam.

My fault?
We're both accomplices in the same conspiracy. :3

EDIT: After mentioning London Meet IV, I went through the thread again and had a good chuckle, and some nostalgia seeing all the old namakoteam! banners still being flown. Good times. Also, I just found that picture you took of me wearing ski goggles standing next to someone holding up a giant picture of Jck.

Meet IV? When was that? Late 70s?

Certainly, long before my time, I'd wager. Whichever meet DEL used the Caspian Sea Monster for the flyer for, that had about 20. But two weeks? No chance!

Anyway, what are the two neighbouring hotels we're all staying in? JWS needs to know, and I'm a forgetful buffoon.

Plasmo and ptoing are staying in the hotel we were in last time, the Citotel le Bretagne (likely to be full now).
You, .SM and I are in the Kyriad Hotel Central, right next door (more affordable for groups of 3+).
CHI and DEL are in the Inter-Hotel le Sevigne, just around the corner (cheaper for pairs).

Hotels are likely to be either expensive, or fully booked now.

Balls! Anyway I'm picking up my train tickets today. Thanks for the hotel info!

The London Meets sound brilliant, I feel like Ive missed out on whole generation of players. Would you say the community has changed a lot in the last 10 years?

What was it like back in the 80's DEL?

CHI has been around a long time and Mills & I stretch back to the mid 80s in terms of London arcades. Back in the 80s there was a tight bunch of us and the West End was a playground with a fair few arcades and all the new titles. Some of the original crew are still around, but it is mainly me, CHI and Mills who have kept playing throughout.
Back in 2003, System11 came down Casino Arcade and met me. He said he was starting up a Shmupmeets section on the forum and suggested that I host London Meets. I hosted about 9 or so, then spadgy took over when I left for EuroDisney 4 years ago.

Thanks for the backstory DEL, hope I dont make you feel old by asking! The arcade scene seems so magical to me, I really wish I'd been old enough to experience it. Are you still in contact with any of the other guys and gals?
Silly question, you work at EuroDisney? Do they run arcades at their resort?

I've booked into the Kyraid Hotel. I thought I'd treat myself to a double bed since they were the same price. So if anyone needs a place to crash let me know. Did any of you order breakfast? I didnt know if it would be worth it so i didnt bother!

I'm glad you know what I'm doing with my life Icarus!

I just got confirmation of press access while I'm there (I presume it's a room for writing articles, doing interviews etc._; going to do some interviews with top players and organisers. I'm all ears with suggestions about who to interview and what to ask!

Breakfast at the hotel?

It's far more fun attempting to find something to eat in the morning. Especially if DEL's driving. :D

Yes we are still in contact with many of the guys. HoG for instance is made up of a lot of them.
EuroDisney is my name for the European mainland
I'm out here in Van Damme Country.

Being a mod my PM inbox is always poised to explode, so I've rather lost track of the final details of Stunfest's London Sortie Massive.

Am I correct we travel out on May 2nd and back home on May 5th?

Kind of, lol. I have to bring my joystick with me along with my HDMI adapter and Elgato capture device, as I'm not confident they'll have enough equipment to record my run. :3
Luckily I just picked up a Qanba joystick bag which is also big enough to store my 17" Macbook Pro and everything else, haha.
Also, it's my final day of study tomorrow. Three projects to hand in (which are all complete), then I'm free!

I can't wait! Far too much work to do by Thursday, but I'll live!

I guess we should sort when and where we meet on sortie launch day!

Hey Icarus, I might need to borrow your Qanba for my Demo run....? The only thing I'm bringing is my Pork CD. It'll work on any X360 I think, and I'm not lugging my Soul Caliber V Joystick with me.

I picked up a bit (last week) so I would have something to spend there without the panic of looking for a functional cash machine. I'd suggest doing the same.
