A thread for a freeware game that doesn't get enough love. It's like a delightful mashup of the real-time combat of a game like Diablo (with dodging via jumping, controlling summons, huge spell lists) and the complexity and random dungeon exploration of a game like Nethack (the spell lists are enormous, there's a ridiculous amount of elements, diseases and status ailments, the race/class/religion selection options are massive, there are so many combinations that you can tweak your starting character however you want, the racial list is particularly enormous). The religion list includes more amusing deities like Cthulu, the Flying Spaghetti Monster, or that one deity that makes you faaaabulously pink and sprays rainbows of confusion at enemies at random when you're attacked (among other deities, all of whom have special bonuses, their own perks/downsides, all listed during selection). Or you can just be an Atheist and not worry about gods... angering gods can make life difficult so this is actually recommended for beginners.
Controls are basically WASD with Mouse to aim/shoot/dodge.
This game tends to be fairly tough, and the advanced mechanics take some getting used to. Permadeath is on by default, though you can disable it aside from if you worship one particular deity who, if he gets pissed, will kill you and will bypass permadeath, but there's a really good tutorial you can playthough to learn pretty much everything you'll need.
There's no sound or music and the graphics are pretty, but minimalistic. It all works though, and it plays fantastically. Please download it and give it some love, it's an unsung PC RPG gem that deserves more attention.
