Super R-Type SLC Normal

Post by Kiken »

Since Minzoku decided to pull out her SNES about 2 weeks ago, I decided to give a shot at the one shmup she had, Super R-Type. I had once gotten to play the game in some guy's dorm room for about 10 minutes... that was ten years ago... so I figured it was time that I really sat down with it.

Super R-Type: SLC on Normal (180 MB)

A couple of things I've like to point out about this replay.. for one.. I should have killed the stage 2 boss the first time it opened up its weakspot but I was rather slow to respond. Secondly, it seems there is a slight frame-stutter about 3/4s the way into stage 3 and a rather odd audio glitch that occurs during the stage 6 boss battle... I'm pretty sure both of these occured durring encoding, as the original videotape recording seem fine. Third, I was seriously nervous throughout all of stage 7... the word jittery comes to mind when describing my actions within that level.

Please enjoy this demonstration.

At any rate, I've decided to work on SNES Gradius 3 since I picked up a copy for $2 from the local GameCrazy (where I also ordered a SNES R-Type 3 for about $10 after shipping from another store).

you're my hero of the moment, kiken. i've been wanting r-type replays for the longest time. r-type 3 would be fantastic.

Excellent run! :)

Super R-Type gets lots of stick, but I always thought it was a great port (if a slight bastardization).

Could someone mirror this? I'm getting terrible download speeds (630 bytes/sec) from Kiken's site.

Same here; it's taking a ridiculously long time.
