Colorful Shooting (Doujin Freeware)

Today, I found one very recent shmup on Japanese free doujin game website Freem with the Japanese title からふる☆しゅーてぃんぐ — with the English title of "Colorful Shooting." It is a vertical bullet hell shmup but wait... Its graphics appear that these were made using MS Paint?!

Installing the Japanese language pack is a recommendation if you want to play this game properly.

Seen plenty of games with graphics like that but this is the first time it's a shmup. Couldn't get it to run though.

I think my system is having problems with the funky characters in the filenames. I got it to run when I changed the name of the directory, but some graphics like the first level background and hud were missing.

Oh right, it helps to have installed the Japanese language pack on your PC.

For those who have actually tried, does the game play well? I'd download it but my internet's just gone dialup-mode on me.

It's not graphics whoring, there are literally bullets that become completely invisible because of the background.

I agree with both KAI and Cagar on better shmups with graphics that appear to be made with MS Paint.

Hal, you really shouldn't post games like this if you want to be taken seriously as a source for unknown yet promising mobile shooters... The O.G.A one was kinda nice but this? Jesus man. Does any part of you really think people want to be informed about it?!

I'm kinda on the fence about mobile shmups anyway. On one hand they're fun, but you can't experience the full joys of shmupping on a damned phone. But yeah, at least please make sure they have some essence of quality..

That's not the problem with the graphics though. Actually that's the only thing that makes the game interesting at all..

You guys are a bunch of whiners. This game is awesome, it's obviously supposed to be silly and stupid, and the hiding of the bullets is quite clearly the game's main mechanic/gimmick. Pretty cool music, too.
