Useless toys you collect.

Post by infested_ysy »

In this thread, we post and talk about the useless toys/figurines that we collect, because wasting money on little pieces of plastic blobs is fun (O RLY?).

Here's my current collection:
Image Image Image Image

And to not make the thread die all too quickly, I have a question to ask:

Anyone here collect those military vehicle miniatures?
I saw a shop selling some mint boxed/carded miniatures of tanks under the brand "World Tank Museum" for around USD$4.... and it looks exactly like the two stuffs on the left on the picture:

Also, anyone happened to have Japanese/English links to toy sites that contains photos taken on such products? I'm interested to know the looks of the tanks in the complete collection.

I started buying Transformers earlier this year - the Binaltech/Alternators are awesome, more than just toys if you ask me. I also kept my entire StarCom collection from when I was a kid.

My friend has a giant collection of toy Daleks, of almost every size and colour imaginable.

Couldn't help you with the tanks though.

I just got a small collection of Stikfas in the mail last week. I still haven't cut/filed down the rough spots on them, but I'll get to that this weekend.

Pictures

I'm probably going to pick up a few more sometime in the future, like the samurai and a few classic military guys.

I like to collect small GI Joe figures, specifically Cobra troops. I like to amass small armies of them and set them up in lines. I just got done going to Dollar Generals in my area picking up 26 $2 figures.

I also collect Mega Man toys and Classic Superstars from the WWE.

I appreciate sweet toys but I don't collect them for myself. But I do play lots of videogames so alot of my loved ones think I'm some sort of child. Therefore I receive at least one action figure a year at birthday or Christmas. My brother does well though. He gave me a full set of Road Warrior action figures which is killer because The Road warrior is my favorite movie of all time. He also gave me a Wanderlei Silva action figure which is killer because he is my only living hero. And a full set of Space Ghost figures which is just killer. I just realized that I bought myself my own Tetsuo (with fucked up nasty arm thing) because it was so cool. I keep all of these things and a few other knick knacks in a glass case in my living room so I can see it all at once.

I 'collect' toys, but more for decoration than for collection purposes. My toys include things like the McFarlane Sin City and Akira toys, Dark Knight Strikes Again PVC figures, Alien and Predator Mez-itz, Neo Kaiju, Virtual On action figures, and a bunch of gashapons.

Maybe I should buy a track set or something......

I got a bunch of Evangelion gashapons(spelling?). I also collect fighter planes toys, and those miniature food models.

My most recent addition is a Cylon Basestar(the old series) that looks bad-ass.

I enjoyed collecting useless toys from Mc Donalds, until their food started giving me horrid gas and this sickly feeling. This is something Mc Donalds don't actually charge you extra for.

Oh goodie. I love these kinds of threads. I'd started a similar thread in the previous forum's incarnation. I'll have to take some more updated pics with my diggycam. I can't post pics of all my toys/figurines, because I don't want to flood the thread. Let's just say I have a sizeable collection.

Nice Gundam gashapon, btw.

Use imageshack/xs's thumbnail picture settings. It doesn't take an eternity to load several 7KB thumbnailed pictures.

This is a third of my collection :) There's unfortunately too many to comfortably display... :? the rest are squashed pathetically onto the very very very top shelf in the closet due to lack of space :( [I'd take pictures, but you wouldn't be able to see most of them.]

There's the Mew shrine, also, but I need to reorganize a bit.

I used to do Warhammer 40,000 for a while. I was only into it for 2 years or so, so my collection didn't get very big.

I guess that means I'll have to declare my Beanie Baby collection... I've got a lot more of the things than I really care to admit (long story...) I also happen to have a rather large collection of Nerf guns, several of which are actually reasonably valuable these days (there's a small niche market for Nerf stuff that will pay hefty prices for the more desirable ones. Other than that, I don't really collect figures, even though I do have both series of the Homestar Runner figurine sets on my desk currently.

I don't collect figures (I have a couple of Evangelion models, but that's about it), though I do have a bunch of weird hats, I like to pick those up when I can, though I don't really do so "serously" (if that's even possible, heh). My theory is that everyone in America has a baseball cap or something they got as a promo item that they never wear, and it's just stuffed away in a closet someplace: my goal is to give all those caps and whatnot a good home, since I actively wear every hat I obtain (another reason I'm not really a collector). It's definitely gotten me some odd looks, wearing a Dr. Seuss hat or a jester cap (complete with dingly bells) to class and such, heh.

The only toys I really collect are building toys. I've been collecting Lego since the dawn of time (got about 20k pieces now), and earlier this year I started collecting Geomag. It's great for constructing giant rainbow-colored geodesic dildos...

Image

That shit is expensive though...it runs about $0.80-$1.00 per rod.

Built any shmup ships with those Legos or Geomags yet? I was thinking about collecting Legos as well. They were my favorite toy back when I was a kid.

I used to build ships all the time when I was a kid, but nowadays I mostly design and build robots with it...

Geomag isn't good for building things like vehicles. It's geared towards geometric objects....uniform polyhedra, towers, bridges, stuff like that.

I had a good collection of SW figures, Vehicles and Mail-in's from the Rerelease by Kenner in 1995 up to about 99. I just sold them to a friend for a decent amount of moolah.

Was doing some spring (autumn?) cleaning, and came across something relevant to this thread...

Image

Blockman, a short-lived series by Takara, canceled in the wake of their slightly more successful Transformers product line. They were marketed in the US as Robotech Robo-Links. The robots came in two different body variations (pictured), and an array of colors, along with armor, cockpit attachments and other accessories. They were basically extremely non-versatile building blocks.

And while I'm at it, here's a pic of my Dragon's Lair lunchbox...

Image

Hate the game, love the lunchbox.

FatCobra, on the topic of ships, my friend built a ship that we plan to use in some shmup I'm making. He also sprited it; I should post the sprites later. Hell, I could take pictures of the ship!

Once I can afford such a hobby, I plan to do extreme customization of Zoids and Gundams. The art simply fascinates me. Here's some examples of the kind of stuff I want to do. Of course, the examples aren't mine, but you get the idea. All the examples are customs from http://pheno.zoids.org.uk .

Image
Mosasledge High Speed Type. Made for fast strikes on enemies. Great underwater camo!

Image
Snow Horn X. The customs include, but are not limited to aesthetic changes, more weapons, and a paint job.

Image
Liger Zero NeXus. This thing is friggin awesome.
