Still can't believe G-Stream got emulated in mame without melting first. If region free a must buy.

G-Stream on MAME feels like a prototype or loketest version, unfinished. No way in hell this is the actual final boss, for example. There's a potentially lethal final form bullet pattern hidden somewhere in that boss.

Also, one would guess that XIISTAG's score checkpoint system would have some form of leaderboard integration. Either friend comparison or what have you. Doesn't have to be a point-for-point comparison like Mushihimesama 360, but would be a nice addition. On the PS2, getting that immediate feedback of improvement was a very nice touch.

Skyline's hit the nail on the hammer: I've been saying ever since I got trap15 to fix the sound in MAME that this looks so much like a prototype that there must be a newer version of G-Stream G2020 out there than what's currently available. I mean this image alone makes you wonder:


I wonder if maybe now we'll have our chance to really play the 'finished product': a version with fixed highscore tables and high quality music to go with Triangle Service's usual standard would be very nice indeed!

Only difference I'm seeing is less graphical glitching. Particularly, when the big boat boss is destroyed, the original version will drop some of the BG tiles and drop a few sprites. Not seeing that in the video. Aside from that, it looks pretty much the same.

You referring to the video in the OP? I saw some notices in MAME's gstream.c driver regarding the sprites but are we sure it's the game doing it as opposed to a mishandling in MAME (or maybe it's not noticable thanks to 30FPS on YouTube)?
