Favorite Thunder Force on Genesis / Mega Drive?

Post by superhitachi4 »

Just wondering which game everyone prefers: II, III, or IV. Personally I've always enjoyed them all, and could never really choose a favorite. Lately though, I can say that I've been playing Thunder Force IV constantly. ( yet again :) ) Guess I play III, and IV the most, but all 3 are great of course.

I like Thunderforce 3 the most.
Nice classic shmup with good music and some nice levels. It could be more challenging though.

TF2 is not my type of game, I've tried it a while but I can't enjoy this game.

I love everything about TFIV so much (the soundtrack is jut spectacular!), but the ranking and slowdown kindof spoils the experience. I still think I enjoy this one the most.
TFIII is based on too much memorization IMO, but gets pretty fun towards the end.

EDIT: Changed TFVI into TFIV :)

Definitely like TFIV the best. Everything about it is awesome and the difficulty can get intense but never frustrating.
I love TFIII too, but the levels are "learned" too easily imo, and then the game is just a breeze.
Don't care much about TFII, an "early work" for sure.

I always felt Thunderforce IV was easily the apex of the series. The bulk of my experience with TF 3 and 4 has been mostly through playing the gold pack for the saturn but after playing it extensively I dont think part 3 even compares to its sequel. I am sure many would disagree though.

How do you beat the last boss in Thunder Force IV? I have no room manuer, so I guess you have to shoot his outershield and work your way to his middle bulb? This game is freakin hard.

lol Last boss on tf 4, you sure its the last boss first :D Stage 10

Major spoiler: Honestly your better just fighting him until you work it out yourself its not hard to discover, try using hunter.

I'm assuming you've gotten past the sentry, so in his final phase He'll shoot out these little silver bulbs, shoot them not the boss although he has that network of orbital rockets that need kept in check, you'll know you've hit them when one turns yellow and heads into the centre. just keep shooting them its not that hard to beat only the first dodge where the silver balls overlap the bottom left corner is tough

Yes, I like them all as well, but my personal favorite has to be ThunderForce III. It just "flows" better than the rest.
