Ah 87, older than I thought, but makes sense being he's been around forever. Head on over to the movies thread for some CSI Penis talk a few months back with the great To Live and Die in LA. Still a few I need to watch, like Cruising. Holding off on that one until I read the book. And The Brink's Job has a helluva cast that I never got around to.

As an aside speaking of movies/books, Sorcerer blows the original book out of the water imo. Of course it's out of print and hard-ish to find (same with Cruising, incidentally), so you're not missing a ton. But maybe I'm biased, or it's a poor translation. Hard to beat the tension of both the French adaptation and Friedkin's masterpiece with all the sounds (or lack-thereof) and some of those almost tangible visuals and sweaty misery. Did I ever blab about tracking down the tacky cat painting in Roy Scheider's ramshackle hut? Impressive to no one, but I was overjoyed. Still need to hang that badboy up so I too can pretend to be in a downtrodden malaria-infested hut with a suicide mission in my future.

My personal favorite from the late director was The Hunted. Why? Because it felt like a remake of Rambo!

Pavement's original drummer, Gary Young:

Generally known for being hammered during gigs and handing out cabbages to the audience more than his actual drumming, but an important part of an important band

Jesus, legit thought he'd shuffled off a decade ago. :o Crazy to think he and his wife were married a whole four decades, until she died what was already a lifetime ago. Sounds like as full a life as a man could ask for.

Will play a credit of Runark for him, he'd have loved the bit where Mr. Elephant stomps the poachers. Hell, wouldn't surprise me if he owned a dedicated cab!

o7 to Bob Barker, had a long life, and yeah, always mentioned to help control the pet population.

Also, its not just Bob Barker that passed, a few others from within the same week. Pro Wrestlers Terry Funk and Windham Rotunda (Bray Wyatt), and also Arleen Sorkin, the original VA for Harley Quinn in the Batman: The Animated Series.

Oh shit, never heard Terry Funk died. Real oldschool hardass. 79's not bad for any 20th century veteran of that industry, let alone one known for Japanese deathmatches. Great anecdote in Mick Foley's first book, getting to wrestle him for the first time, and discovering just how he made his turnbuckle punches look so stiff.

His longevity has always been one of my jokes. The lighthearted upbeat kind, as opposed to the grimdark ones of Dick Cheney's true immortality. I always thought he'd make it into a few years of the 100's.

Ah, it was great how he had a guest role in that one movie. And to think they didn't think he'd accept.

"God I hate that Bob Barker..."

There was a little reunion~

Funk was a true man's man, dude bled buckets, eventually retired.....multiple times, he just couldn't get away from doing what he loved, causing pain and chaos on his opponents. Was fun watching him wrestle as a heel when I was growing up. "Dusty sucks eggs", that ended up on a t-shirt his friend, and fellow wrestler, Tommy Dreamer wore.

As for Windham Rotunda, dude had a mind that would've been great for film, but sadly it won't ever happen as a heart attack took him at 36.

Bob Barker seemed like he'd live forever, sadly, like Betty White, he fell short of 100, so no $1,000 won on the Big Wheel. Was great growing up watching him on Price is Right either at my grandmother's house during summer months, or before the soaps my mom would watch. There's an entire TPIR Pluto channel, dedicated only to th years he was host of the show, 24/7, nothing but TPIR.

Arleen Sorkin did a clown character in a dream sequence in One Life to Live, speaking of soaps, and I hear is the inspiration on why she was hired to voice Harley.

She was on the soap Days of Our Lives for years playing opposite John de Lancie. I only know this because my mother watched the show so when I was home during school breaks I saw it.

That's one good dicking! Well anyway, 14y/o boy dead now 3; Verdict still out on if it was teh chip, but given all the XTREEEM health warnings attached to the thing, and people keeling over at similar antics, it wouldn't surprise me!

tbh, with them there Scoville ratings, it sounds like you might as well get bear-sprayed 3;

Gary Wright, best known for his 70s hit Dream Weaver!

I appreciate his soft disco-y stuff, but I'm actually a bigger fan of Wright's work with Spooky Tooth in the late 60's. Their best album, Spooky Two, is a seminal Blues Rock album that deserves to be viewed on the same level as Zeps early work. One highlight from the album is Waiting For the Wind

Wright is seen here with Spooky Tooth on the far right:

Incidentally, Spooky Tooth is also where Mick Jones of Foreigner got his big start.

Even though he's best known as the Cobra: The Legendary Guy guy, that name will forever be inextricably linked with this mythic mullet-which-transcends-all-mullets in my mind.

Need to check out Takeru. I loved Gokuu. Didn't read all of Cobra but watched it. Top quality stuff that is so far removed from anything coming out today it can't help but make one feel nostalgia.
