I played for a while and owned 3rd through 11th Styles on the PS2. I would have to say that 6th and 8th are my favorites. Shit, they are the only ones I picked up again recently and didn't resell after boredom set in. Part of it has to do with them being the first ones I bought back in the day, so I am partial to the tracklists. I also have the US version for when I don't feel like using my Swap Magic disc (wish I still had a legit Japanese PS2), plus it's nice to see that hi-res interface.

I haven't played IIDX (or any other music games, honestly) for a good few months. Priorities and all that.
Had just fallen from low-level 11s to barely holding up at 9s, looks like quite the uphill climb to get back to where I was before.

This looks like I'll have a hell of a time, but for Tricoro I'll put forth the effort.

Jesus Christ. I'm even struggling with 5s now, but I think at my absolute peak I was only barely holding together at 9s.

Any cheap source of KOCs now? NA or JP. I have one NA unit but I have a friend interested in the game so I'd like to get another and we can do 2P.

If I can't get a hold of one quickly, I might put my build back on the burner, since I picked up a rotary encoder and I have quadrature ICs sitting around for years when I shelved my project. Just dragging my feet as usual...

You need to change to the correct directory.

Yeah, I ran it through the folder from the command prompt and that worked, but then I got this...

I think I messed up the port settings somehow?

Check this and this.
Uncheck the read only attribute on the Tricoro HDD directory.

Arcade emulation with online support, sounds like a big pain in the ass to me.

Please remember to disable all network adapters that AREN'T your working wi-fi/ethernet device (Hamachi, Tunngle, VirtualBox, etc.). I also believe you've set com0com up properly, if not look into that.

On another note, I assume you're running under Win8? Probably that's your biggest issue right now, I haven't heard reports of tricoro running on Win8 (some people got it running under XP after jumping through some hoops).

Sadly, yeah, Win8. I have an older XP computer and a 7 netbook, but 32 GB transfer... yeah.

I'll try the stuff Kai said and give it another go. I'm persistent!

Nope, turning off the read only box did nothing. Figures that I can't connect to their IRC...

Only have three network adapters; two Realteks and an MS Kernal Debug one. Could it be my locale settings? It's on JP because of Steins;Gate. Doubt that makes a difference though...

So I got Lunatic Rave working.

Next best thing, and I found a metric ton of BMS files here:

I think I'm good!

LR2 is a good sim but the judgment system works a LOT different from real IIDX games. I could easily AAA a couple of songs in LR2 and in tricoro I can barely reach the A grade.

Here: http://pastebin.com/fFDPAFrU

Someone compiled that for rhythm games generals at 4chan (and I've contributed to it). You can get the CS exclusive songs or some black ANOTHERs. There's also a MF folder with skins from 09th Style to EMPRESS but I don't have the link right now. Be sure to get at least the Resort Anthem skin, it's the most complete around.

Also, check out some of the BMS OF FIGHTERS songs since there's some good stuff there like the fifth act.

I can tell no Pump fans have touched that, so I'll have to do some editing. :P Fiesta 2 came out last year, and there's a Pump simulator called Kick It Up. Not sure if it's been updated, uh, ever, but Stepmania doesn't really emulate Pump accurately at all, since freezes don't rack up combos, and speed mods are different in Pump as well.

Got it running. I had to permanently check run as administrator in the launcher's properties.

Bad news: network error. :( Last check fails. It's a start though!

Well that's interesting. The system settings say it's online, but e-amuse isn't enabled. So I think it's not connecting to PS' server.

Konami's Bemani Twitter has said that there won't be any more IIDX ports.

It's too bad, since the PS3 would be an ideal platform for them. They could easily fit the entire latest song library on a Blu-ray.

I sold both my boxed JKoC on eBay last year for £60.

What a tit.

Really want another one now. 10* is my personal limit, at least it used to be.

Is it wrong for me to hope that it would be a console/portable release? :(
