So, I have just bought a PAL UK Saturn, and quite frankly there are no PAL games that I actually want - but loads of Japanese titles, so I was planning on just buying a Japanese console. What I wanted some advice on was whether there is any reason at all to keep the PAL model? I had looked at getting it modded, but figured I would be better of putting the money towards the NTSC-J model anyway. The other big question I have, was whether I could just use my current RGB Scart cable with the Japanese console. I understand that the Japanese used a different system to the Euro Scart, so I am a bit confused as to how to connect this up to a UK TV. Is it really just as simple as using a Euro Scart cable? Is the actual output on the system itself different to the PAL model?
Any advice anyone could give me on buying a Japanese Saturn would be gratefully received and much appreciated!

I would suggest keeping your console and just using one of these to play your imports

its great because it doubles as an extra ram cart, and a memory card!

You could take a look at this guy's ongoing woes but my personal thought is that it'd be better to just find a cheap US Saturn and an Action Replay 4M Plus should get you most of the way there as far as imports go.

I think the video troubles alone would keep me far away from the PAL console.

but yeah, I haven't had any problems with my action replay cart but keep in mind there are a select FEW games that cant be played using it.
Unless you really want to own a japanese console, I would say the action replay is your solution

I suggest you change the region jumper so the machine think it's Japanese and mod it so it outputs 60Hz instead of 50Hz. Should literally take no time at all. It's what I've done. Also means you don't have to faff finding a new RGB cable.
Can always sneak in a cheeky modchip too.
The Action Replay carts are expensive and shit imo.
The cheap nature of the carts means the PCB is thick too which ruins your Saturn's cartridge slot.
