PCE-FX's 7,500th post...
Yep, here's the 7,500th post here and another 2,500 more to go to match up with GP, Skykid & Dave4shmups. Hopefully, it won't take too long to reach that particular milestone. It's been a cool ride with the Shmups.org forum all these years when I first joined up back in 2002 (back in the days when the Shmups MK II forum was up & running -- they were even mentioned in Gamefan magazine back in the day as well). The shmup old-timers will recall those days of lore.
It's been a pleasure to contribute to shmups.org over the years. We sure ain't getting any younger, that's for sure.

Yeah, my ol' noggin must be getting cloudy again. Thanks for the nod, Skykid. ^_~
And I do recall shmupper Ed Oscuro with his 9,300+ posts. Only less than 700 to go with reaching his 10,000th post.
One fellow shmupper asked me if I will write a book about my arcade Factoids trival knowledge. I said that I really hadn't thought about it (but looking at the narrow niche of arcade games in general is quite slim). Certainly another book in that narrow field certainly wouldn't hurt. What do you guys thinK?
I was asked if I had ever worked at an arcade? I have never worked at an arcade and it would be a dream job come true if the golden opportunity presented itself (considering I'm an old-school grizzled arcade gamer veteran from the early '80s era). Sure, I've seen my fair share of local mom 'n' pop arcades and some arcade franchises shut down for good back in the early to late-1990s. It's been said that if your own business survives the first five years in business, you're in pretty good shape for the long haul (and this pertains to the lone indy arcades as well).

That's a lot of quality posts, PCE-FX! I'm about closing in on the 5,000 mark myself.
Re: PCE-FX's 7,500th post...
I'm almost there myself. Only... 8,500 more posts

Re: PCE-FX's 7,500th post...
Write a book! I'd buy it. Keep it up, good sir.

Would be interesting to know when the Shmup forum first came into existence. Was it late 90's or early 00's? I know I joined sometime in that window of time on the old board, but I've no interest in making 10K (there's no prize.) When really old posts do resurface (IE the Moby Dick thread), the board seems to function more as a reminder of how time fades away. Anyway, good to know there are still a few old timers hanging around here.

Congratulations on reaching such a milestone. You are by far the best poster on this forum.
Re: PCE-FX's 7,500th post...
I should be able to reach 10K in another 80 years or so. Hope you guys will post in my celebration thread.

I'm still not even to 900, shame I didn't join on the older boards, but I was intimidated by all that info that used to go around, so I'd browse, read, and learn.

What mesh control says hits the spot, Jaimers. It's not OCD but just my sig (and yes, it's still typed out manually each and every time I make a post). It's all part of the charm.
Thanks for all the positive remarks and comments, my fellow shmuppers.

erm, maybe that's not the most flattering thing to post. May you have many more happy posts, you damn spammer!I understand the technique of eccentricity; it would be futile for a man to labor at establishing a reputation for oddity if he were ready at the slightest provocation to revert to normal action. - Nero Wolfe

I searched Google Images for "7500 posts" and this was the best I could find:

I was hoping for something funnier, but oh well.

Imagine seeing that coming down the screen towards your ship in Takumi's original Mars Matrix game software cartridge for the Capcom CPS-2 software system, it would be an impressive sight indeed but probably quite difficult to trigger. I would expect to go into the red digits immediately! ^_~shmuppyLove wrote:I searched Google Images for "7500 posts" and this was the best I could find:

That'd be be quite something, wouldn't it? Ah, but then the mystique as to what ol' PCE-FX! looks like will vanish.Illyrian wrote:When you reach 10k posts will you post IRL pics of you doing the wink?PC Engine Fan X! wrote:What mesh control says hits the spot, Jaimers. A bit of parody posting time from the likes Ed in grand PCE-FX! style...you crack me up.
That's a cool 7,500 posts icon you found, shmuppyLove. Certainly hits the spot.

Congrats on reaching such a high post count, while keeping it informative all the while. I would definitely buy a book about the histories of shooting games if you ever wrote one.
Perhaps some of our favorite informative PCEFX posts shuold be shared for this occasion! I definitely enjoyed you showing off a cool way to play those Game Boy shmups on your Egret II setup.
I look forward to seeing the next 2,500 posts full of obscure shmup factoids!
