Wasn't that the instruction screen bug? You start the game while the instructions show you how you get gems, and it actually adds it to the starting value (oops!).rtw wrote: However I noticed that the player starts with 215 gems

It's a bug with the tutorial. Let the tutorial run through until it gets to the part where enemies stream in from the top of the screen and the character shoots them all for kakusei gems. Press a button to skip to the main game, and you'll start with the amount of gems you had when you skipped the tutorial.rtw wrote:I finally got hold of this game and decided to take a look at how the pro's
do it. So I fired up the official DVD with Ageha and was duly impressed.
However I noticed that the player starts with 215 gems.
When I play I only get 100.
I checked the main screen and the rank is set to Normal.
Anyone care to explain what is going on here ?

Pretty sneaky.
I agree with the sneakiness, but when I try this in the tutorial I always get 100. Should I do it when all enemies are eliminated or just when he starts shooting the enemies ?Icarus wrote:It's a bug with the tutorial. And what causes this enemy:
To start doing this ?
Thanks for the heads up.

Credit goes to Gaijin Punch for telling me how to do this:
Watch the tutorial. Eventually the player will go into red bullet mode. He will allow the bullets to hit him and the auto guard barrier will kill some enemies. Then, he will switch back to normal mode and more enemies will come out. He will shoot them and will start collecting green gems. Hit the fire button as soon as the first green gem hits you. You should start with around 1000 points and 200 gems.
To get the spiral pattern, that ship is blown up in 2 stages. If you damage it just enough but not enough to kill the enemy, you will see a small explosion of the two side guns. The enemy will still be alive. It will shoot the spiral pattern, but to make the bullets bunch up you must be in purple bullet mode after you blow up the side guns.

All the bugs should be listed in the strategy thread.
I haven't watched the DVD in a while, but Minamono Tsuki has some very high scoring stage 1 & 2 videos. The Ageha player does the same trick in the DVD at the beginning of stage 2. Always hard for me to do. Has zero gold, jacks up the gold and goes right into Zesshikai immediately. GL w/ that one!

You don't have to be so precise actually, you can start to collect some gems then hit the fire button to end the tutorial. You'll still get the extra gems. It seems to randomly vary between about 190 and 220 gems for me.zlk wrote:Watch the tutorial. Eventually the player will go into red bullet mode. There's a new 750+mil Ageha ALL vid up:
http://b-board.rdy.jp/torrent/details.p ... 9bcec975f7
The guy loses lives left and right (2 on the stage 3 midboss!), but it's worth downloading because he shows some very interesting techniques I've never seen before. His last boss techniques are particularly interesting.

Very nice run... he could easily get 800, if not 850. Overall, he didn't do too much new. I've seen just about all the patterns in the arcades...even the last boss one where he goes back and forth on the safe zones. I actually saw TAC do it, but he died towards the end. When I didn't see it in the super play DVD, I assume it was considered too fucking hard.
Stage 1: Doesn't use the tutorial bug. My highest score run does the same pattern,, but w/ the bug. Coincidentally, he scores about as much as I do w/ the bug. If you're good, you can score big on the last big turret. He pisses away about 5 million on the boss in exchange for his guard barrier, which he loses ironically, at the first of stage 2.
Stage 2: Good run, other than the screw up.
Stage 3: Minus the mid boss (yes, twe is right -- this is the hardest 25 mil in the game) it is a good run, but nothing out of the ordinary.
Stage 4: Bar none, the best run in the game. Fantastic boss -- doesn't use the guard barrier once.
Stage 5: Amazing dodging on the first big Good Year Blimp. Things go very, very pear-shaped just before the tate-ana though.
Stage 6: Also good minus the fuck ups.
last boss: Good stuff... and well executed for the most part. Great job on the second pattern and final pattern.
Overall, I'm a bit curious why he chose to post this run. Seems he could polish it up w/ a little work and do better.

Not sure who might care, but I just noticed Fujita Communications put out a new price list, and they have ESP Galuda 2 used for 50,000 yen. That's only $400, quite a good price. :I
Mushihime Futari's price is oddly missing though.
Seeing as I can't resist a price like that, Is there any recommended way to deal with Fujita, or should I just send them an email saying I want to buy a game from them?

hello....i have recently picked up a brand new Esp-2 kit...why is it this pcb does not save high scores on the high score table 'in-game' & the high score at the top always resets?...when powered down.
Entering the settings menu & there is a high score table there witch does save!?..
My Ibara & sorekara always save scores...
Thanks

1)It saves high scores. Like in Mushihime-sama, you have a "today's hi scores" list and an "all time" hi scores list. You have to scroll through the "today's" list by hitting the A button to see the all-time hi scores. Rankings are kept separate for each character (which is a feature I quite like).Sentinel wrote:why is it this pcb does not save high scores on the high score table 'in-game' & the high score at the top always resets?...when powered down.

I like the "today's hi scores" feature as it allows you to see how well you've done in that particular session, even if the scores aren't good enough to make the all-time ranking board.
2)The in-game hi score "at the top" does not save. Mushihime-sama is exactly the same. The first Ikeda game to implement this was Mushi-Futari 1.5 (1.0 did NOT do this). Ibara and Pink Sweets are Yagawa programmed games. Totally different programmer, totally different conventions.

Re: Espgaluda II -official-
I remember seeing the modes for this game, and it had a "Black Label Novice" mode. For one, what is Galuda's Black Label(is it any different from the normal version?). And well, i'm guessing Novice Mode would just make the game easier...
