Espgaluda II -official-

Post by parodius »

This french gaming site points out that ESPGaluda 2 and Ibara 2 are mentioned in Cave's latest financial report., on page 20 which is the one about arcade games, along with the puzzle game Mushihime Tama which we already know about.

say whaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaat?

I hope ESPGaluda 2 is as different from ESPGaluda as ESPGaluda is from ESPRade. I'm guessing that's just a placeholder name anyway.

That rocks the fuckin house! I take back all the bad shit I always say about French people!

Let's hope it's not a Mobile Phone game. I hope it's a true sequel... I love ESPGaluda, and will buy this fucker when it comes out!

That's my guess as well. Just take a look at the names other gamecompanies hold on to.

Not necessarily: Now, I doubt they'll be called ESPGaluda 2 or Ibara 2, but I'm fairly positive they'll be sequels.

The title of the page is:
Agressive Development of the Mushihime-sama, ESPGaluda, and Ibara series'.

Some other interesting points:
Seems they'll be spending 2.4x as much money on game development next year as they did this year. Also that they use the term "Working Title" in their upcoming Cave Online titles, but not the aforementioned sequels.

This is also how the PS2 port of Mushihime-sama was found... quite a while before the announcement.

Schweet. More Cave is good. I just wish they'd get be more interested in the home market as well... maybe if Mushi does well they'll pay more attention. I also find it interesting that Ibara seems to be doing somewhat poorly (anti-flame note: this is just based on my observations in arcades here, and may not be correct) but they're planning on making a sequel to it.

What I would like to hear is that they are developing for home consoles. Arcade games that don't receive ports are like beautiful tropical islands somewhere in the Pacific: more or less inaccessible given my time and budget.

Neither of which have some exploitable female lead character that can be represented without panties or as pedophile's wetdream. Well, the current versions didn't, at any rate.

I'd expect GaijinPunch is right with the hunch they are cell/mobile phone games.

Wasn't there some sort of recent investment by or in Cave with a mobile phone software company? I remember reading something along those lines.

I doubt it, what cell Cave shooter so far hasn't been an inferior representation of an arcade original? Cave is obviously working on some new arcade game(s), so it might as well be these.

I take that hunch back. It clearly says "Arcade Games" on that page. ESPGaluda already has a cell phone game as well.

'Galuda is not only my favorite shmup right now, but also one of my favorite games ever--and I've been playing games for about 20 years. So naturally I'm pretty excited about this. (Maybe by then Arika and Cave will be on good terms again? ::drools::)

I realize that Cave doesn't make many sequels, and I see the merits in that, but look at the DDP series. That proves Cave sequels can be good, right? I can't wait for 'Galuda 2, and I hope it uses a similar system with more challenging levels.

So all of these shots seem to be against massive enemies, are these bosses - it seems a coincidence that all the players would be at different bosses at the same time. Maybe the whole game is against "level 3" style big structures/bosses.

Also second image seems to have some kind of Shiki thing going on.

Hmm, looks like the old gem/ingot counters are still there, so unless they've changed the way the two work somehow it appears that the scoring system might be the same basic idea as the first...also, purple bullets? I guess they replace the brighter pink used for "kakusei" bullets in the first one?
