X68000: sync problem after lcd connection

Post by Capoz »

Hi to all, a friend of mine have a problem with a X68000 Pro after an lcd connection.

I've searched everywere any information about X68000 video output, I think that the only problem it's the sync because after some days, and cap replacement I've linked th x68k to a dvdo edge an see this:

Image

Image

connection to dvdo edge is:

X68000 vga adapter -> vga to component cable (5 rca), if I connect Hsync and Vsync cable or not the image it's the same, for this I suppose that is a sync problem

Somebody can help me to find where the H sync and V sync start? from what chip?

Thank you

I`m not sure what your screenshot is supposed to look like... There appears to be a mess at the top of the screen and I`m guessing the colors are not correct? The unusual 56hz/512 lines video output of the X68 is a likely suspect. But if the source is VGA then why does the OSD say 720x480i (emphasis on the "i")? Have you tried any other VGA source with that adaptor and screen other than the X68?

I don't know the X68k, but if the output is 512i56 (or 512p56?) then the Edge simply can't handle it. That's a non standard format and I wouldn't know which processor can handle that. If somebody can provide a link with some information about the X68k's video output, I can look into it.

Doesn't the X68 provide a 31khz output ? The Edge seems to see a 15khz input on the screenshot ?

The X68000 can output both. With a modified plug, Arasoi gets most games running on a standard VGA PC monitor.

Today i'll try it with an original vga converter on some crt without the edge, in this way i'll discover if cap replacement have helped me.

Ok I've tried with some adapater and some monitor but no result

The only way of see something it's connecting X68000 to dvdo edge with the only games that have a resolution of 768*512 at 31.5 hz : Bomberman

I think that the sync signal is dead, somebody knows where to tap H-sync and V-sync from the VICON chip of the x68000?
