Why don't you all just use, I dunno, latest? It works with DonPachi, savestates work... I see no problem.

I confirm Illyrian's trouble; with Donpachi, DoDonPachi, Dangun Feveron and Guwange, every emulator I use gives a dumbass "pending anonymous timers" error when trying to use save states. This has happened with three versions of MAME for me, including ShmupMame 2.2.

But that doesn't really matter to me; I find myself never really using stage practice anyway. :V

Been doing really badly today survival wise.. probably the last run for today. Improved chaining on stages 1-3 significantly, but had a death on 1-3 as usual reducing the points by like 0.5mil. Game over on 5 boss again. Not going to post another score until I get 10mil and/or 1-all :|

First time I've ever looped a game. Suicide bullets are fucking terrifying and I don't think I want to deal with them, lol.

I've got that 72 hit chain in 1-4 burned into my brain, I swear. Every. Single. Time.

Slowly making progress. Stage 4 is still a mess, but I'm getting better at dealing with the popcorn. Died to the first stupid ship that summons an enemy from below with 6 bombs, thought I'd kill it in time but didn't. :(

Awesome play jaimers! I don't think I'll ever get that good in the loop, time to keep working on those first loop chains :x

edit:

embarassing run, I got to 1-5 with like 1-2 lives and killed the boss with 6 bombs, overkill. 10mil almost on the number  loop seems sorta fun. I even got sniped by the damn 1-3 boss in this, really have to improve this lol..

Gonna point out right now that the high score screen tells you what your max hit is. So you could wait for that. Just as an idea.

Did pretty bad on the first loop as usual, but 1-5 was especially bad.. two deaths and no good chains. 2 deaths on 1-4 again too. got to 2-2 boss, should've just bombed the crap out of it. I'm liking playing the loop so far* , but I need to start getting to it with more than one life, hehe.

*point blanking is good for survival, high chains are risky but look awesome, tactical firing and movement is more encouraged. and huge piles of scattershot out of nowhere looks cool

@Aguraki: maybe you need to move it in /inp inside your mame folder? also most people probably have C set to autofire so unless you turn it on in the test menu some replays will desync (like mine)

@Giest118: I was starting to take my screencaps of where I died for it to tell more about where I was but yeah I forgot to go into the score screen on that run. But yeah hit number doesn't really tell anything unless it's really high

That chain was a fluke. I died right during the stage 4 missile spewers with two of them onscreen and got 50 hits, plus a popcorn barrage came in. I don't know.

Yeah, those missiles seem to be the cause for big hit counts. apparently you can get over a million points from there if you chain into the popcorns properly.. dealing with that type of popcorn wave is damn annoying with A though.

Also more people should play B maybe, I mean the world record was with it for quite a while lol. the proportion of B players on the hi-score thread is like 1/15 as well :o I guess it's mainly just good for chaining and dealing with the loop though, not an easy one to use for survival either.

B is my favorite one in this, DoDonPachi, and DoDonPachi Daifukkatsu. DOJ sadly doesn't have a proper type B since it was removed and C got switched to B there. Of course, I don't exactly like the chaining systems, so that's why you don't see me putting in the effort to get some good type B scores on these boards.

I've only ever gotten to stage 4 on this one. I may put in some time, but as I have 2 other games I want to do some serious stuff on at the moment(and I've kind of been neglecting those too), it probably won't be much. I'll try to get at least a 1-5 though.

Hmm, you might be surprised by how different the chaining is in this one compared to the ddp games.. you can do decently with short "burst" chains because the stages aren't really designed to have any really long chains. Average chain length is like 20-50hits. Feels more like something like ketsui or esp rade in a way.
