I was rather wondering where those extra plays were coming from. Then Jaimers linked me to this thread and I was all like "OH."

Thanks to those of you who like them. A high scores thread would make me feel all warm and fuzzy inside.

I feel like I've seen you somewhere before, Giest. ...Wait, I remember now, weren't you on Rose's let's play/livestream channel? I seem to recall you spoke up when the subject of bullet hell/DDP was brought up. Surprised I haven't seen you around here before, given your interest in shmups.

There kind of... isn't a reason that I haven't been here? Dunno. Can't really explain that. XD

I do play plenty of shmups though, everything from Touhou to x.x's stuff to Crimzon Clover to Cave. I even have a Youtube channel where I have videos of a bunch of random shmup 1cc's and other games that I did playthroughs of for the lulz.

Giest, you should check out the development section. I'm sure you could find some useful things in there - maybe even start a thread on a game project you might be working on.

Ok, giving this a go. Time to bust out the Saturn pad. Game pad support out of the box, nice =).

I got to Stage 5 with RD on the blind attempt. The chaining feels a little fiddly... I don't have a gauge and the chain breaks if I breathe, so it's like I'm playing DonPachi all over again. The combination of point blanking + chain makes it feel very much like KetsuiPachi to me... I guess that was the point, though =P.

Two things that would improve this game:

1) Make the game install to a folder. It spews files all over my desktop whenever I run it.

2) Allow me to configure the controls.

DISCLAIMER: Yoyogames' download service is being godawful slow for me for some reason so I haven't downloaded any of these titles yet. If there's a functionality I'm discussing that's already been implemented here I apologise.

You got a request here. I don't think including the files in the EXE to be extracted is such a good idea anyway if that's what's being done but the differences on most computers would indeed be probably marginal.

Controls for keyboard stuff isn't the easiest thing in the world but THERE ARE examples out there for such.

If game pad configuration is what Blackbird wants that's more than possible - Nimitz implemented it in GMOSSE (see signature). The biggest change you'll have to do is either change all your keyboard events to if statements in a step (sounds harder than it is) or use the variables in GMOSSE's scr_input for virtual key pressing (that event_key_press one I forgot what it was called precisely). The keyboard controls are hardcoded but the joystick/gamepad keys are changeable by number.

The end user will only have to know what button on their pad corresponds to what number, which is straightforward enough to figure out via Control Panel if the controller itself doesn't have said numbers etched into the buttons.

I'll have a look at GMOSSE later when I'm at my desktop computer if indeed it does make it doable. Question though: I've never used GMOSSE. Your signature says it's a Game Maker shmup engine, but I don't really know what that entails. Is it just a series of scripts that make certain things easier?
