Do you want to play your 360 shmups with a keyboard?
Some people might not know about this gadget. It's mainly designed for use with FPS.

Dunno if it's compatible with shmups... but at least with this accesory you can connect a PS2/3 controller, keyboard and mouse to an XBOX360.
I'll be buying it to use my PS2 controller for fighters ( the XBOX 360 controller D-pad sucks) but i'll also try it with Daifukkatsu...

Doesn't have any keyboard support, but if you just wanted to use PlayStation controllers/joysticks, there's also the Xtokki 360.

Nice thing about the Xtokki adapter is that they integrated the 360 encryption chip into it, so you don't need to plug in an original controller, and it also has a Guide button and a headset jack.

WARNING: drunken post approaching
No thanks, I'll stick to playing my shmups the way they were meant to be played with a joystick.

Personally, hell no, but whatever works for you.
I believe Prometheus plays with a Keyboard, and I think MrMonkeyMan plays Ketsui with a regular 360 controller and they both have scores I will never touch.

So you can map everything on the keyboard including the D-Pad with the XFPS?

I've also heard about XIM3, again mainly for FPS games. I'm unsure if it allows you to freely map the controls to any key on the keyboard though. I'll definitely look more into it later. I find the Xbox 360 pad absolutely terrible.

Saturn pad 4 lyfe!

I'll warn you. All versions of this lag terribly and it's pretty much a useless device.
I bought one of these in 2007 for the PS2 function, I didn't care about the FPS side. This was way back before the Xtokki or any other converters existed, before the Fightpad existed, and at the time only the Hori EX-SA was out - but pretty much everything I tried lagged. Any PS2 controller lagged, keyboard lagged, mouse was just unusable. PS2 Saturn pads lagged. It uses a stupid "dial" for mouse sensitivity, meaning it's pretty much impossible to set in the same sensitivity should you accidentally bump the dial. I couldn't use this with TF2 (Orange Box) either, it was just impossible. I probably played with this for a few hours before giving up in utter frustration.
Also, the exceedingly high price certainly didn't help.

Theres that Razer Onza 360 pad which looks like something keyboard players would love http://store.razerzone.com/store/razeru ... d.54297600
Edit Was just checking out the differences in price between currencies, I didnt know the price difference with hardware between US-UK-Auz is just as bad as software

Hmm... seems like a good compromise since what Elixir comented is really frightening... lag imput on a fighting game is the worst thing that can happen, even if it's just a little.TrevHead (TVR) wrote:Theres that Razer Onza 360 pad which looks like something keyboard players would love http://store.razerzone.com/store/razeru ... d.54297600

Re: Do you want to play your 360 shmups with a keyboard?
I actually have the Onza as well. It doesn't lag, but the "dpad as buttons" scheme is made for switching weapons in FPS, you're not going to be able to use that for shmups.
