King for a day

Post by Skykid »

Our business is finished. I win. :D

I must say that as I was running around the room like a headless chicken, I didn't realise the 2nd loop counter was being offered on the screen and missed it. Gah. Thankfully I'm too happy to care at the moment.

Seriously, I just wanted to clear DOJ BL. I didn't want anything else more in the videogame world than that achievement. Nothing.

It was great fun to put some work back into a shmup again instead of being distracted from the goal. I'm so stoked. :D

Unfortunately I'm not going to be able to leave it at that, not now I know I can reach the 2nd loop. The thing I don't get is, how did I get to it? I definitely missed a couple of bees on stage 3 - I thought getting all of them was the requirement?

Well, for one I'm extremely inconsistent. I should be looping this with consistently, but I've only ever 1-all'd it once(twice if you count that I got to Hibachi in 1 round with B-Shotia, but that didn't clear). I got 90 million before Stage 3 boss earlier and then completely screwed it up and the next stage. I'd really like to get a good first loop run at least since the one I uploaded was garbage, even for a first clear.

I was complaining elsewhere about dying in different spots in every damn run. I wonder what my score would be from no miss no bombing till the stage 4 boss or even after that, but odds are I'd die to the stage 4 boss while trying to no bomb the thing.

It's all bees without dying in at least 3 stages. I can do stage 3 bees and I have stage 4 as a possible backup, though I haven't actually pulled off the backup in an actual run. You can also loop it based on bombs or deaths, but I'm not sure of the max allowed for those.

Congrats!

If you can, record your run. It's always interesting to see other peoples tactics. I have yet to even pass stage 3 in 1 credit.

It's on the cab unfortunately. I'm surprised you haven't got through it yet, what with your amazing skills on AK Shin!

Man, I don't know what I did then. I only had 1 life at finishing, so it's not that. I bombed maybe four or five times in total, and I definitely saw a couple of bees slip away amid a field of bullets. Can't believe I missed the screen now!

(Also, sig reinstatement. I feel I've earned it 8) )

Cos you have to choose 'yes' to the second loop on a countdown timer or it defaults to 'no' and ends. I saw this with about 1 second on the clock.

Nice! I just ordered this the other day from Play-Asia. Not going to try to catch you, though. I'll be happy to get to level 3 on one credit!

Congrats, Skykid. That ain't no easy feat indeed. The plain-vanilla flavored DDP-DOJ PCB still kicks my ass any ol' day.

DDP remains my fastest shmup clear (about 7 credits - crapola score though.) :P

DOJ's still in Casino right, you got no love for white label?

Yeah, great game, never attempted proper score play on it.

DOJ's better tho.

DoDonPachi's stage 5 ensures I will never play that game again. Such a horrible stage that one is. I am satisfied by my bombspammed 1-all, most of it being due to stage 5.

Area 7 is the one I found a real bomb spammer. Thankfully by that point you have about 10 to play with. :)

Congrats, we know how much you wanted this... I will try to get my first loop clear with a-shotia one day, scoring well in the first 2 stages and trying to survive for the remainder (like ave said in the hiscore thread)

Yep, I did, but I have to make special thanks to Paradigm who made a comment that aggravated me so much I decided I'd finally put it in the cab and not get distracted by any other games until I cleared it.

So... thanks (gritted teeth.) :)

Congrats Skykid! Really nice score too!
I was also dancing around like a headless chicken when I first got the 1-All, but unlike you I didn't have nearly enough bees for the second loop.
