Whoops. At first I thought, this was a troll post.
But he was ill, right? I just hope he didn't have to suffer much.

Basically the worst kind. Generally by the time they find it, it's too late. I'm not his biggest fan by a stretch, but the guy had some ideas and took that company to crazy places.

Wow, I thought it was a troll post until I actually went to the link O_O. I knew his health had been in decline, but I didn't realize he was dying.

RIP Steve. Like Apple or not, he was still one of the pioneers of the personal computer industry.

And here is today's lesson, kids: if you find you have cancer, do what your doctor tells you to right away, and don't waste time with alternative medicine bullshit.

System 7 man, System fucking 7.

I grew up on Apple computers before moving on to PCs, but I'll always have a soft spot for old Mac stuff.

Anon delivers! :P

I'd also suggest watching Cringely's Triumph of the Nerds (episodes one, two, three) for a more complete picture of the personal computer saga.

Sad, this disease takes n prisoners, even a guy with all that money cant be helped.

I hate that disease, every week i see people around me getting the bad news. There should be only 1 war on this planet and that is humans vs diseases like cancer.

I just wonderd, that new Iphone, Iphone 4s. If i read that, it says: Iphone for Steve........

Coincidence or Apple's way to honour their founding father?

Obligatory...

Here's to the crazy ones.
    The misfits.
        The rebels.
            The troublemakers.
The round pegs in the square holes.
The ones who see things differently.

They're not fond of rules.
And they have no respect for the status quo.

You can praise them, disagree with them, quote them,
disbelieve them, glorify them or vilify them.
About the only thing you can't do is ignore them.

Because they change things.
They invent. They imagine. They heal.
They explore. They create. They inspire.
They push the human race forward.

Maybe they have to be crazy.
How else can you stare at an empty canvas and see a work of art?
Or sit in silence and hear a song that's never been written?
Or gaze at a red planet and see a laboratory on wheels?

We make tools for these kinds of people.
Because while some see them as the crazy ones, we see genius.

And it's the people who are crazy enough to think they can
change the world who actually do.

... a biopsy revealed that Jobs had a rare - and treatable - form of the disease. If the tumor were surgically removed, Jobs' prognosis would be promising: The vast majority of those who underwent the operation survived at least ten years.
Jobs decided to employ alternative methods to treat his pancreatic cancer, hoping to avoid the operation through a special diet - a course of action that hasn't been disclosed until now. For nine months Jobs pursued this approach ...

treatable != curable

I'd probably opt to have it removed, but having had a parent who survived an undetectable by mammogram form of cancer, I fully respect anyone's decision. It's their body. My mother did chemo once and told her doctor to go fuck himself after that. She's in remission and has been for 4 years. Her logic was it almost kills the host in the process of getting the cancer.

And let's face it -- even in the medical world there are no absolutes. If you've never been faced with making a life altering decision that's hard to swallow. Walk a mile, bitches. If you can't respect that, enjoy being a commie.

Also...
In the end, Jobs had the surgery,
You forgot that one.

I'm not a big fan of today's Apple, but there's no denying the impact it has had on the tech industry. Steve Jobs was definitely a visionary in every sense of the word.

I never knew that the guy had cancer. There's a popular Finnish magazine that had him on the cover a week ago:

Image

It reads "After Jobs: What will happen to Apple?"

I thought he was just stepping down :(
