I'm playing the green JPN board set to defaults and it starts me out with 3 bombers.

Yup, default bomb amount is 3. Quite generous (although you aren't able to use any if you are going for certain Items of Legend).

Mine was set at 3 too, but I thought that seemed like too many since most games only allow 2. Cool, the more the merrier.
