Gradius Gaiden ps2 compatability

does anyone know if gradius gaiden is compatible with a ps2, i just had my system modded so i can play my jap ps1 imports and am having trouble, it wont boot up. in a compatability chart it lists gradius delux as not to work, but no mention of gaiden. anyone?

All reports say it works ok. The 7th level plays in slow motion but that is it.

Some modchips require different approaches when starting up PS1 games - with mine, I need to hold the Reset button down for a moment until the light in the Eject button turns blue.
