Question about a Garegga code.

On GameFaqs, there is a code listed under Garegga's codes section that allows you to use four extra Mahou Daisakusen ships. When I entered the code for the first time, it worked perfectly. Four extra ships appeared below the original ships. However, EVERY time afterwards, I have not been able to get those ships. Can someone tell me how to access them?

Are you using a real PCB or mame? if you're using MAME, get Pugsy's MAME cheats, those'll let you unlock the secret characters easily.

I'm using Mame, but I haven't exactly learned how to use cheats yet. Can you direct me to a site that explains how? Thanks in advance.
