Hi everybody,
I have a PVM-20L2MD (CRT) medical monitor that has a beautiful picture. However, when connected to a Neo Geo, Megadrive (Genesis), etc using RGBS BNC connectors it always displays the image as 480/60i instead 240p. I can't find the manual so I don't know if there is any way to force the image into 240p mode or the monitor just doesn't support 240p native. The quality of the picture is still really high but it looks a little bit more pixelated than a 240p signal. I'm wondering if somebody has a link to the manual and also any experience with this monitor or others similar to this one.
Thank you,
\o/.k.
PVM-20L2MD 480/60i mode for 240p systems, manual?

how do you tell ?it always displays the image as 480/60i instead 240p.
that's technically not possible.the monitor just doesn't support 240p native.

Hi Fudoh,
The monitor displays the mode on the screen as soon as image comes on. It shows RGB 480/60I.
There is also a status selection in the menu that gives you the same information about the signal.
So far I only tried with my neo geo and megadrive but I imagine the rest will be displayed as 480/60I too.
Thanks,

Re: PVM-20L2MD 480/60i mode for 240p systems, manual?
technically 240p and 480i are very similar. I really doubt that there's any reason to worry about the Sony displaying the signal in a wrong way. I'm sure it just shows 480i on the indicator, because for the Sony 15khz 60Hz = 480i.
If a 240p signal was really displayed 480i the image would be flickering all over the place and you wouldn't see the typical scanlines. Again I'm sure that the Sony displays your sources just fine.

Fudoh, thank you for the information. You are right, the scanlines are there but I would say they are less noticeable than on my PVM-2030 or other older monitors that I own. I would do some more tests with my supergun and other consoles.
