If we're talking siren songs, how about a full siren solo courtesy of DMCV? :o
Its ol' dad from DMC1 is bangin' as well, but the aggressive pace and more trancey sound of the newer incarnation presses all of the right buttons for me.

As an aside, Capcom sure put a lot of effort into doing sick remixes of the OG boss themes only to hide most of them behind short and easy minibosses.
Despite V having a soundtrack swap menu, you have to bust out a hex editor and overwrite the DMC2 tunes in order to hear Grilled Tandoori Smoke and Psycho Machine with any regularity.

Here's one of the best pieces of "overworld" music I've ever heard in an RPG. It's from a PC game made in QBasic called "Kids of Karendow" that basically did an RPG with South Park Season 1 style humor, with a battle system that's actually pretty good, and numerous minigames (an arcade has several of smaller games they'd previously made they included in this). Apparently they're working on a remake too now.

The music however was done by a guy who went by the handle "Groovin'" and it was EXCEPTIONAL. I've uploaded the entire soundtrack to my Youtube channel. The battle theme (last boss especially) and several of the dungeon themes are fantastic.

Unrelated, but I never noticed your avatar moves all this time. Shit's like a jump scare.

New MSX hardware has been on fire the last few months. Here's Ys II on the latest creation: "PC-60m55W" which is a double OPN (YM2203x2) real chip cartridge.

Balls-hard bass and ephemeral highs. Image My usual Ys II benchmark track soundin' good!

DIAD's self-titled debut LP remains the best Castlevania soundtrack without a Castlevania game. Goth-hued progressive metal with elegantly brooding interludes and furied, shredding neoclassical peaks, yearning to accompany a grimly purposeful pitch-black invasion.

From Nibiru keeps sneaking its subtle blend of 80s synth bass and ABRAISIVE MODEM NOISE GAH FUCK back into my playlist.

This must be how a Mechanicus feels looking at Ork engineering; there's no reason why this should work, yet clearly it does.

Back in love with HIDE-KAZ, and the unmistakable sullen post-punk fires he contributed to NMK STG canon; specifically Thunder Dragon, and its Martin Hannett circa Unknown Pleasures / Movement combos of bludgeoning, guttering diesel engine guitars and disarmingly twee, plaintive lead voices. WILD THUNDER makes a promising first impression with its sneering, swaggering riff and dead-eyedly pistoning backbeat, but it's IN THE RAIN that steals the show, its possessedly violent drums earning the Spanish title BATERIA. Even the On Standby BGM PRESAGE is outstanding, a mechanistic statement of icily-controlled violence.

>Attack Ships On Fire In The Rain

I've only rarely found classic chiptune scores that conjure the raw tub-thumping, string-snapping garage-band fury Kaz seemed to have on tap; Black Heart is every bit as woundedly fiery, a Stab In The Your Black Heart, the INH-conversant might say! USAAF Mustang and Task Force Harrier don't possess the same darkly incendiary charisma, but if you dig purposeful, gunmetal n' asphalt abrasion, they too will deliver in spades.

Sonic Heroes had bomb presentation and some of it was oddly underrated. Like Lost Jungle. This song went stupid.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jTsGlLWsiko

Really matched it's theming of being at the forest floor where animals are now hostile against Sonic & Co, things seem much larger than you, rains can now be a detriment, and the harder robots start to appear in specifically this act. There's a lot more to say about the level but the song is what really hits for me. It matches the dramatic tonal shift from the bright, breezy, and sunny Frog Forest where you're dominating the jungle canopy.

Rugged as fuck arrangements of NO ESCAPE and the sadly little-heard (in its ripping AC incarnation) HOTTER THAN HELL from Super Contra. Image Arcade OSV is already balls-hard but this is just binbag full of beer bottles on a brick wall brutal. The arranger has tons of other great stuff, with a keen ear for golden age late 80s AC BGM. That's a fookin instant sub from me m8 Image Image

The oddly catchy line drifting through the cacophony of a traffic jam; a white whale that would probably be a hell of a tune if you could hear the full thing in isolation.

Haven't actively thought about Earthbound in a while, so this is probably a subconscious defense mechanism to try and replace I Am Impact with a less well-worn earworm :P

Left Huntdown's chapter 1 load BGM on loop for the last ten minutes, so it's entitled to a rec here. The loadtimes being trivial, it was very considerate of them to have a "PUSH START" prompt in-game!

Gorgeous OST for a surpassingly good "If they won't, we fuckin will!" Elevator Action III / RETURNS ONCE AGAIN. While I kinda blank on a lot of the faux-retro stuff ("Where were you in the mid-90s, assholes?!" Hootie and other such pseudo-rootsy shite dominated our airwaves 3;), this is the better sort of homage; one that forges its own fiery identity. The game's bullseye 2000AD vibe and the BGM driving it is damn near impulse enough. Image

John Hassink's Theme of Adventure (OPL4 ver.) from Myths and Dragons on MSX has stuck with me since hearing it recently. Music to stride forth and bash orcs to.

Stage 1 from Torvak the Warrior on Amiga is another, but the version I want - with an audio bug that makes the kick drum sound like a zzt-zzt printer motor - is lost somewhere in the formative years of Amiga emulation. Proper version's still good, though.

I love music like this in video games. It's that rising and falling synth that really makes this for me. Sounds so cool.
