Been listening MIDI Power X68000 COLLECTION ver.1.0 today, pretty neat album.
The new rendition of X68K Parodius Da! is truly beautiful, love all the tracks. Too bad all of the boss theme doesn't included here. Here's some highlights :

Labyrinth
Night of the Living Dead
Beautiful Gals
From The Far North Country '90
Octopus Stronghold a.k.a Best version of 'Final Attack'

Blasting the mother-fuck out of DIAD on repeat. Not strictly VG music but as Udderdude said years ago, it might as well be. Progressive melodic thrash via chiptune, I guess you could call it? It rocks really goddamn hard, threading elegant leads through moody, calculatedly unpredictable thrash maelstroms. A perennial favourite from the original game music scene, up there with my beloved Zeta Force from zabutom.

Those are both amazing albums. Thanks, BIL!

Not usually a big fan of Jesper Kyd, but it's undeniable that he has some really solid skills - and once in a while something he makes manages to really impress me, such as this.

Amazing track from Red Zone, especially considering it's running on a MegaDrive. The soundtracks he did for that console really sounds like nothing else on the platform.

Yeah, not actually a fan of that. I like a couple of the tunes, but the style is extremely "samey", is it often gets with his sound. Again, it's really impressive though.

As much as I dig the sheer energy in the PCE and PC versions, the Genesis version of the Ys III OST is undoubtedly the strongest, especially considering it's a straight upgrade from the PC88 version with stronger drums given how the PC88 and Genesis sound chips are fairly identical. It just has a better audio balance and nails the melodies better.

Too bad about the US cover.

See, I'm in the opposite boat with Jesper Kyd's music -- I'm not a particular fan of the Red Zone OST at all, but I love his work in AB&R.
Come check out my website, I guess. Random stuff I've worked on over the last two decades.

I didn't play XV, but the Piano Collections of it sounded wonderful. VIII was amazing too (as was the orchestra arrange album), but i prefer VII, to be honest.

The Megaman X4 soundtrack. Amazing metal synths. Sounds a bit like it's contemporary Thunder Force V.
EDIT: And holy shit, the game will be 20 years old in October.

Damn Tim, you know there are quite a few Americans out there who still lives in tents due to this shitty economy, and you're dropping loads on a single game which only last 20 min. Do you think it's fair? How much did you spend this time?

Gomola Speed early stage BGM - beautiful melancholic synthpop. I could swear it reminds me of something - maybe by The Police? That arpeggiated sound makes me think of Andy Summers.

ending theme for the pc engine mode on saigo no nindo

i could listen to the soothing first 20 or so seconds of this on loop for hours, and even quite like it after the transition

i do wonder what presumably traditional japanese instruments are being imitated, here, but i love the soundtrack for this game, all around

NieR: Automata soundtrack (Keiichi Okabe & MoNACA) - It could be the Game Soundtrack of the Year. The individual areas you go through in the game have very appropriate themes, like the desert, ruined city, and forest. End of the Unknown is a cool techno track that wouldn't be out of place in a Tekken (Keiichi Okabe has helped out on this series save for Tekken 1/2/4) or Streets of Rage game.

Rolling Thunder 2 (Ayako "Aya" Saso) - Not a bad Genesis soundtrack but the PCB version is way better. Some of the tracks are actually longer than the Genesis version counterparts, and there are a couple that are arcade-only such as An Ancient Way (Round 6) & Terror for Sale (Round 7). Round 8's theme has a cool intro added on that plays until you get to a certain point in the level. TFS is probably my favorite in the game.
Kinect? KIN NOT.

Blasting an old favourite Falcom doujin AST, The Legend of Xanadu: Kleene. Have always ranked it with Falcom's own stuff. Irresistibly feelgood power-cheese synth-rock, with a decent bit of metallic shred/chug too. ^_~
