Little things that annoy the hell out of you
Re: Little things that annoy the hell out of you
This is not a little thing, but here it goes:
Hoarders. Fuck hoarders. In the ass. Sideways with a cactus and no lube. Two friends of mine have to live with hoarders in their family, and someone I know likes to hoard metal for absolutely no reason. Extra sideways cactus-fucking for having bedbugs in their house and not doing anything about it. Because that fucking broken drill you've had for three years now is going to be worth more tomorrow, right? Because you totally will make time to fix it come next week, just like you've been telling yourself for the past 18 months. Because that fucking broken treadmill will help you shed so many pounds, just you wait, right? FUCK YOU. FUCK YOU. FUCK YOU. FUCK YOU, HOARDERS!

scrap metal is pretty useful when one has a welder.someone I know likes to hoard metal for absolutely no reason.
probably just needs brushesthat fucking broken drill you've had for three years
add the frame to the scrap metal pile, transplant the motor into the broken drill, and save the rubber belt to restrain specineff when he becomes overly excited and poses a danger to himself or othersthat fucking broken treadmill
Re: Little things that annoy the hell out of you
Yeah, but they just won't do any of that. They're always procrastinating, and won't take any of that to the recyclers for money. Again, fuck them 4x.

So quiet !
No one outside, tourists gone, no cars, many businesses, schools etc closed, even the cicadas gone silent.
Unreal, yesterday was just below 40 so a lot of people avoided going outside but there was still reasonable activity.
Today with +/-5 more degrees added, the absolute known historical high, it's a no man's land.
Well understandable, here we're not accostumed nor equipped to face such temperatures, 40°C used to be rare, rather typically it's the southernmost parts of Europe that have some experience flirting with extremes beyond that (note: not saying it's any easier for them)
With my own experience I'd say it is definitely not as bad as the even hotter moist and polluted terror I've know in Beijing in 2001, but it holds up well when you're directly under the sun.
Anyway I think it's time for me to consider real estate in Groenland.

Air conditioning isn't a staple in the average french household? Cuz that's all the equipment we've got here in Italy in fact, many buildings here date back to the postwar era or the economic boom of the '60 (like where I live now) and haven't had renovations to make them more energy efficient, so they absorb and store the heat and end up being absolute furnaces by afternoon in times of extreme heat, the walls are still hot even after the whole night has passed night during which getting asleep was a pain due to beds being literal hotbeds and forget about using electronic appliances like notebooks or CRTs for more than half an hour or so without air conditioning unless you want to see them reach the melting point

Re: Little things that annoy the hell out of you
No AC isn't common in houses and flats here, not even in the south. Only in offices, public/commercial buildings etc.
Normally we don't need it, what was considered a hot summer was one with an average of 35°C in the middle of summer, with rare spikes above to 37~40 the exceptional years.
What we're see here is unprecedented, 45.9 was recorded just about an hour by car from where I live. This is insane.
Worrysome because those 'exceptional' years are becoming more frequent, still we weren't expecting this.
Heard northern Spain suffered a lot as well, also wildfires.

I fucking melted today doing some errands. I'm not even actually typing, my consciousness entered the internet.

People who come to systematically hold flashlights fist-up/overhand like they're characters on mission ready for surprise assault in an American film, even if it's just looking for that stapler in a deep drawer or their gardening shoes in the basement and that hold is obviously uncomfortable.

Toll roads, fuck em. I took a 14 hour round trip into Oklahoma today and for one 11 mile stretch each way I had to pay $1.75 x2. Would have really lengthened the trip to avoid it. Was slow enough not going on the interstate to avoid the huge tolls.

Google and Youtube's algorithms more than ever pushing forward worthless stupid crap videos made of trash Tv and trash people, conspiracy and religious nuttery fantasy documentaries, braindead irritating influencers and proselytes, fakes n' shit n' shit. Even games videos are a mess.
It's come to the point where finding anything that's not cultivating stupidity, finding something relevant and valuable on many topics has become a real challenge or even impossible.
I'm guessing when 95 people click on 'alien nazi jews controlling the weather in ancient communist sumeria', and only 5 on real non-retarded contents, the latter then somehow disappear from the algo-radars and servers after a while.
The internet has really hit bottom.

PC updates that take 5 freakin' hours.
EDIT: And reset a bunch of your preferences while they're at it.

Likewise. Mine is music, vidya games, and calisthenics. Anytime the recommend other shit on my home page I get rid of it.Steamflogger Boss wrote:I don't youtube outside of a very small bubble. That sounds awful.
You're sure to be in a fine haze about now, but don't think too hard about all of this. Just go out and kill a few beasts. It's for your own good. You know, it's just what hunters do! You'll get used to it.

living in a near-deadzone for cellphone service
I liked, for the short period of time I used W10, when updates would also break drivers and programs so I'd have to redownload and reinstall shitBulletMagnet wrote:PC updates that take 5 freakin' hours.

Re: Little things that annoy the hell out of you
Apparently they're attempting to quiet things down by limiting features release to once a year, with of bigger pack of correctives etc mid-year.
So, of course, they still can't admit that the concept of W10 and their attempts at imitating the mobiles and games world was a shit idea to begin.

Re: Little things that annoy the hell out of you
Unfortunately, when the world at large accepts it - even treats it as a good OS - they have no incentive to "admit" anything.
After just ONE horrific experience with it on 7, the concept of forced updates became an absolute dealbreaker for me. I have zero understanding why the masses put their feet down on certain things but not others - this ought to have been a clear case, but no. And so we're stuck with a version of the OS I simply cannot adopt.

Re: Little things that annoy the hell out of you
I didn't mean all Windows, specifically 10. Among all 7 was their best, never had nearly the same amount of trouble with it as with the current horror that's been bashed magnitudes more for good reasons (10's hated possibly even more than Vista and 8 I would say)
People didn't really adopt 10, well some did in the beginning as it was free and they were curious, but for the huge majority they were more or less forced into it because they didn't know how to prevent the 'upgrade', or they just bought a new PC with it, and most of them not happy would like to go back to 7 or 8.1
Warning though if you're a Linuxian let me laugh out loud because I know what's coming and whatever you say I've already heard it all I will keep laughing. Desktop Linux is only good for the 2% of users who are tech engineers and developers raised with a computer since they were 10, and it's bloody tiring to hear their BS arguments faking ignorance that as a desktop OS it doesn't fit the needs and skills of 98% of users in the damn world, for the reason it's made with nerd logic instead of people logic, and no distro makes up for that. Linux is the epitome of FOSS hypocrisy and I possibly hate that more than tentacular monopolistic evil corporations products.
