NG Dev Team announce GunLord for Neo-Geo and Dreamcast
Re: NG Dev Team announce GunLord for Neo-Geo and Dreamcast
They need to hurry then, we're nearing the halfway point of the year and the pre-orders aren't even open yet.
(I had Gunlord pre-ordered for six months and ten days before it shipped.)

Re: NG Dev Team announce GunLord for Neo-Geo and Dreamcast
Another game in 2012 is optimistic given GunLord's delays and the fact that this game hasn't been announced yet. And yeah, it's not Redux because that's separate from NG:Dev.
I remember reading about them doing an Ikari Warriors inspired game, didn't realise they had another one squeezed in before it.

Ouch, that's no good. Has anyone here been bit by these bugs? I wonder how often you'll run into them.Op Intensify wrote:A bug and two game-breaking level design oversights were discovered.
Humans, think about what you have done
Re: NG Dev Team announce GunLord for Neo-Geo and Dreamcast
Hopefully that guy sent them the video - I'm sure they'll fix it if it's an easy trigger (although the bit in the acid level is triggered mostly by greed).

I believe the small elevator glitch happended becasue he tried to jump on it with his wheel instead of just rolling on it. Not sure though... anyway all of them seem to be avoidable.
Re: NG Dev Team announce GunLord for Neo-Geo and Dreamcast
What exactly is the glitch in the acid level supposed to be? Seems alright to me in the video?
The other one is not so nice though. Must've overlooked it.

Re: NG Dev Team announce GunLord for Neo-Geo and Dreamcast
I did not make the whole video to show off glitches only. Just something silly I put together with old footage. But I'm sure this will help them complete the product before DC release.
About the acid part, the camera starts to scroll right after the respawn. Leaving very little time to react and jump on the platform. I just felt it was a little ridiculous...
The elevator glitch I can't remember. It's from 1.0. I probably did hit the jump button somehow.
The video is posted on the Gunlord thread over at NeoGeo. I'm sure NGDEV have noticed it.

Re: NG Dev Team announce GunLord for Neo-Geo and Dreamcast
Absolutely no problem if you simply jump to the left when you respawn instead of running right first. As long as you don't move, the screen won't move iirc. It's just one of the more difficult places (in an overall very fair and easy game).RaidenViper wrote:About the acid part, the camera starts to scroll right after the respawn. Yes, they're well aware of it.RaidenViper wrote:The video is posted on the Gunlord thread over at NeoGeo. I'm sure NGDEV have noticed it.

You have no idea how hard it was to keep my Saturn and Dreamcast clean at my apartment. Those things were dust magnets.mirkvid wrote:bumpin' for great justice. Game is releasing this week so dust of the DCs kids.

Oh, right, GunLord! Yeah, get that shit over here right now. I want to play it and rage when I can't play it like Contra.
Why is it called the Vic Viper/Warp Rattler? Because the Options trail behind it in a serpent-like fashion, and the iconic front fins are designed to invoke the image of a snake's fangs.

Re: NG Dev Team announce GunLord for Neo-Geo and Dreamcast
Got my Dreamcast copy today, and I really need to get the dust off my DC... Have been playing games very rarely anyway throughout the last months. Hope it well get better from now on, I'll probably try Gunlord this evening. Listening to the soundtrack right now and it's awesome if you ask me. (Is there no tracklist for the soundtrack by the way?)
Re: NG Dev Team announce GunLord for Neo-Geo and Dreamcast
My copy just turned up today! Going to give it a whirl on demul/nulldc and see if it works on them before I try and find my dreamcast...
Re: NG Dev Team announce GunLord for Neo-Geo and Dreamcast
Anyone play this on DC yet? Mine shipped, but I still haven't received it. This is my most anticipated game of 2012, hope it delivers!

Re: NG Dev Team announce GunLord for Neo-Geo and Dreamcast
My dragon box arrived today. Very nice looking and the usual fine array of stickers from NG:Dev!
Thus far made it to stage 4 and a boss which repeatedly killed me in the face until I ran out of continues. Shame you can jump with the laser whip active because that looks goofy as hell but otherwise a fine game and an excellent Turrican homage. I'd have liked the shmup level to be a bit longer and paced out - it's short and manic but not very difficult. Don't know if there are any more later on.
Nice to see an old-school console platform shooter really, takes me back a fair bit!

How's the loading time in the DC version?
I remember Fast Striker had some really long loading times between stages.

The loading times are roughly the same as in the MVS version. I haven't sat down with a stopwatch, but they are really short.
Nothing like DC Fast Striker.

Re: NG Dev Team announce GunLord for Neo-Geo and Dreamcast
Played for about an hour last night, I think it's NG's best game so far. You can tell they put a lot of effort into this one. Lots of attention to detail...Do I detect a hint of the Rambo theme in the level 1 song?
Made it to the 3rd level boss, the difficulty seems to be pretty well balanced so far. At first I thought the jumping controls were a little rigid, but once I got used to them, I was hopping around like a mad man.
Anyways, good job, looking forward to spending more time with this one.

Re: NG Dev Team announce GunLord for Neo-Geo and Dreamcast
All right! My Dragon Box came in the mail. Still waiting on the posters. First impressions:
Dragon Box was shipped in a bubble mailer. This resulted in some box crushing and damage. So, a bit irritated at first.
Box art is gorgeous.
Manual is gorgeous.
Postcard is one of the best pieces of goofy art I've ever seen.
Bookmarks are cool.
Disc art is pretty fucking rad.
Bonus music disc art is equally fucking rad.
Being able to shoot up and diagonally is the most useful thing ever.
Original Mode and its lack of time limit is really nice.
This is clearly their best game to date. I really want to get the posters ASAP.

Interested in the DC ver. of this, but I may have missed something here so correct me if I'm wrong:
The difference between the Dragon Box LE and the regular LE is 3 posters, a postcard and some stickers, at a difference of 57 Euros? Is that right or does the Dragon Box come with an extra disc or something?
