Games Yagawa was involved in ?

Post by Hydeux »

Hi folks !
As I'm planning to write some reviews/articles on Yagawa's games for Shmup'em All (best shmup French speaking website), I'd like to know wether you'd know about a list of all Yagawa's games.

I know about Laserfight, Recca, Raizing games (all of them ???) and Cave games. But I'm probably missing something, or maybe he was not part of all of them !

Thanx !

laserfight

I'm pretty sure he only did Garegga, Batrider, and Bakraid. And Ibara, Pink Sweets, and Pork. And an Espgaluda II arrange mode, and Daifukkatsu Black Label. Perhaps he did some older arrange modes.

Yagawa's Japanese Wikipedia page also credits him with Burning Angels for PCE. (ew...)

MobyGames lists him as a programmer for KickMaster, but the actual credit looks like "Yaga," so it might be conjecture that it's Yagawa.

I doubt it. There's plenty of proof out there that it was done by Kid, a company that Yagawa worked for, and the company that designed Recca (Including an interview with Ken Lobb). gdri.smspower.org lists it as being developed by Kid.

Burai Fighter and Isolated Warrior were also designed by Kid, but, as far as I know, they both lack credits. The only definite one for Burai Fighter is Ken Lobb as producer.

I wonder where that came from? He's not listed in the end of game credits.

He wasn't behind all Raizing shmups. I don't recall seeing his name in the Brave Blade credits, for instance.

Rumour has it he might have had something to do with Omega Fighter Special (he or some other now-big shot dude who was just some dude back then).

Don't forget GENIUS(ジーニアス) for MSX, circa 1987 (before Laserfight).

Re-reading this topic, in case it needs to be clarified: Yagawa was only involved with Battle Garegga, Armed Police Batrider, and Battle Bakraid at Raizing.

Never heard of Genius before by the way. Yagawa has been making shooters for a lot longer than I would have imagined.
