I'm planning to live-stream my very early Ketsui attempts!
Hey guys! I'm just getting into Ketsui now that it's finally available on MAME and I can play it. I'm really just getting started with it, I'm not too good and it's quite hard, I've only gotten just past the boat in stage 3 so far. I'm planning on live-streaming myself playing, with mic commentary, which I figure out to be fairly entertaining. So how much interest can I drum up here? It won't be for a few days (finals, ugh), but I'm sure many of you would enjoy getting together in the chat and laughing as I ram into things trying to score well and failing miserably. Let me know how many would like to watch and what time is best for most people, likely it'll be this weekend, and I can do my best to accommodate as many as possible for the show!
EDIT: Stream has finished, thanks everyone who watched!
If anybody missed it, the whole thing is recorded at:

just go to the bottom for the list of videos.

Do it on Justin.tv and let us know what day and time I'll swing by.

Re: I'm planning to live-stream my very early Ketsui attempts!
I might swing by as well, I also want to stream shmups possibly in the near future too.

Do it on a Wednesday or Thursday night so I can watch it, I'm not too good in the game either.

I would recommend Ustream, JustinTV just sucks.
Re: I'm planning to live-stream my very early Ketsui attempts!
Thats true. JustinTV just freezes or go slow. Never had problems when watching something on Ustream.Zeron wrote:I would recommend Ustream, JustinTV just sucks.

I'd watch it. Finally a stream where I could understand what others are talking.

Re: I'm planning to live-stream my very early Ketsui attempts!
As it happens, Ive actually been livestreaming me playing Batrider not-so-long ago, and I was considering Ketsui as well. I'll watch, but I live in a GMT +9:30 zone and even then storms stop me from getting online.
Don't worry about being bad at Ketsui, I'm no good either. Having frameskip at +8 running it on a legacy machine doesn't help either.

I will be streaming with Ustream.
I'll record the whole thing for anyone that misses it, although there won't be the benefit of chat for the recording viewers
Thursday night (EST) is doable for me. Sound good to everybody?

Let me know if you feel like I'm hijacking, but I'm streaming (http://www.livestream.com/captainpain) Dangun right now! We need a general-purpose streaming thread.
Re: I'm planning to live-stream my very early Ketsui attempts!
Not at all! I agree, would be good to have a dedicated thread for anyone to announce their streams. I'll check yours out for a while.

This sounds like a lot of fun. I always like to cheer people on during speed run attempts... high scoring attempts should be just as entertaining =).
Re: I'm planning to live-stream my very early Ketsui attempts!
I'll probably stop in.
Re: I'm planning to live-stream my very early Ketsui attempts!
Nice runs! Glad I checked it out. I never realized how fast that game was...captpain wrote:Let me know if you feel like I'm hijacking, but I'm streaming (http://www.livestream.com/captainpain) Dangun right now! We need a general-purpose streaming thread.
Looking forward to watching kengou on Thurs...
Re: I'm planning to live-stream my very early Ketsui attempts!
Stream will begin around 11pm eastern US time! Should go for at least an hour, we'll see how it goes. I'll optionally take requests to do some DOJ:BL as well, but it's really all about ketsui doods

Got to leave early, but I enjoyed the streaming. Be sure to post again if you're planning on doing another one.
Re: I'm planning to live-stream my very early Ketsui attempts!
I was able to catch your stream. Good playing, good fun. I rather enjoyed watching with a little bit of commentary, and being able to have some chatter on the side was a bonus. Thanks, keep us posted if you can get it up again. Same for anybody else that wants to run a stream, I'd be happy to check it out.

Re: I'm planning to live-stream my very early Ketsui attempts!
Thanks everyone who watched, I had a lot of fun with it!
I will definitely consider doing this again some time. I hope other people do as well!

Loved it! I wasn't able to chat or hear audio as I'm at work, but I really enjoyed looking up watching you play every once and a while.

The recording is linked in the OP for anyone interested who missed it

Had fun watching it, was a little late in getting there as I remembered almost a half hour in.

Re: I'm planning to live-stream my very early Ketsui attempts!
Watched some of your recording. Did you ever get any tips on how to score well? Also, have you tried playing with the slower heli?
You can get 5-chips of bigger crafts by either:
a) Point blank them with SHOT or
b) Point blank 1 popcorn enemy (triggering 5-chip), switch to lock shot (on that big sucker) than use the small laser to take out some smaller ones as you wait for the bigger one to explode from your lock shot attack.
Think of it like "dipping a brush" in a bucket of 5-chips using shot (popcorn), then "paint" the screen with lock shot. If you use "method a)", switch to lock shot as the big enemy explodes to get some extra chips off them (this takes practice to time just right), for example those gun towers right before the stage 2 midboss.

Really wanted to catch this, but we were short staffed in class and I was there for an hour and half over. Probably didn't finish before the feed was over.
I look forward to next time though!

Hey guys,
Just wondering what you guys used to stream with on Ustream?
I did a trial today with the Ustream Producer and it streamed fine but it made DDP on MAME play badly. It kept dropping frames, etc.
I have a fairly decent computer (Dual core CPU, 2GB ram) so it should be able to handle it right?
What's the easiest, most effective way to stream MAME on Ustream?
Thanks for any help.

I dont use Ustream, I use Livestream Procaster with their website and it does the same for me though considerably less often. I have the same specs as you.spl wrote:Hey guys,
