DSi XL flash carts

Post by Davey »

I'm looking to get a flash cart for my DSi XL, thus turning it into more of a gaming system and less of a paperweight. I want to be able to play that TGM homebrew, and I'm assuming a flash cart would also let me play the translated version of Puyo Puyo 7 (I have the Japanese cart). I'm not interesting in pirating anything (really!).

"So why not just Google it, you lazy jackass?" Good question!
1.) As I understand it, flash carts are kind of a gray market thing... but I trust you guys to steer me towards a non-sketchy vendor. :)
2.) If the flash cart world is anything like the mod chip/boot disk world of years ago, what's currently best changes fairly quickly, especially as new model revisions come out. Thus, while I could Google whether or not specific carts would work with a DSi XL, but I figured getting #1 addressed first would make more sense.

Thanks!

The XL is essentially the same as the DSi so the M3i flashcart will work, although I don't know anything about it's translation abilities.

The #1 rule for DS flash cards is to stay away from anything with "R4" in the name. The original R4 was a nice card for its time, and became hugely popular (to the point that it's pretty much synonymous with "DS flash card" among some folks) but nowadays anything "R4" is pretty much sketchy by definition, as the original brand/design has been retired for years. Nowadays anything "R4" is made by companies that are trying to overcharge neophytes for clones of designs whose original vendors sell them for $5-15 each. You wouldn't even want an original R4, as it's not DSi-compatible.

Sorry, flash carts belong to the "Not for discussion"-category as specified in the Forum Rules.
