My first 1CC: Batsugun.

Post by Dylan1CC »

Well, last night after 3 months of practice and 4 hours straight of determination I finally 1 credited Batsugun edit: normal edition, my first 1CC ever. What a great game, there were a few times I got kind of tired of playing nothing but Batsugun (well, except for my PSP and DS at work), but not as much as I thought. I liked the game and appreciated it more and more the better I got at it. Ikeda and Jun did such a great job putting such personality and balance into a game with such over the top weapons.

It's the granddaddy of modern manic shmups and IMHO a very good stepping stone for other 1CCs. I now have more confidence that I can eventually 1 credit Garegga, Progear and Radiant.

Also, Ground of the Galaxy wasn't as bad as I thought it'd be once I learned the patterns. I was able to learn its patterns after two runs last night, then it was just a matter of getting to it with at least two lives. Jupiter is the real evil IMHO.

Much thanks to Rando who gave me pointers on beating the game not to mention his excellent strategy guide.

Anyways, my all clear score isn't as high as I'd like it but it's still OK:

Yup, now I won't feel guilty when I get my import PS2 and DOJ. Can finally play something else. :P

1 crediting is a great feeling though.

Congrats! Batsugun isn't an easy game either. BTW, did you 1CC the regular or special edition?

That score is silly low for special, so it had to have been the original.

In other news, Dylan more powerful. Batsugun less powerful.

lol! Glad you still remember that. I was actually gonna be at their house Sunday for a movie/game night but my friend (his older brother) had to play with a band he is in. I can't wait to see how loopy the kid gets from playing Kirby Canvas Curse, he already has a billion new Yoshi TnG scores he updates me on now and then. ha And you oughta see his Mario Tennis taunts.

One other funny thing he did was way back in September, I watched Gamera 2: Advent of Legion with his brother and dad. After awhile Nolan (less/powerful kid) comes in to watch the final battle between Gamera and the Legion mother creature. Every time there was a fierce move or explosion from the monsters he would yell "Yeahhh! Down with peace! Up with destruction!!!" And he is a budding Raiden fan now courtesy of his brother's MAME, whatta kid.

Regular edition. I will dig into special edition more someday but I need a break from the game now. Putting my Radiant Silvergun disc back into the Saturn tray this morning felt nice. :P

Congrats!

Don't stop now. You should go back to Batty and improve what you have currently learned. Learning to refine a good run is what makes you a better player :)

I'm pretty sure I'll be OK as long as I return to it within a month. Just need a break. I'm generally really good at retaining my skills for shooters I play a lot throughout the year, and Batsugun is now in that category. 8)

Three months focused on one game-- I'm impressed by the dedication and the accomplishment. Nice work. Maybe I should try focusing on one game like this. I've been looking for the right game, and so far Zanac Neo seems like a good fit, but at the moment stage 4 (level 5) is kicking my ass.

Thanks. 8)

I now will start focusing exclusively on either Progear or Radiant (after the summer is over) and see if I can one credit one of them. Or I may like Mushi and DOJ so much I will make one of them the next goal. Who knows? :)

Another reason why he is well suited for 2D shooters and Bomberman games. lol

One of his Bomberman '94 quotes (while dodging explosions) "Ahhhh! I'm a crazy monkey!"

This thread exudes so much love that i'm almost jealous...you're welcome, btw, and don't forget: there's also the special version waiting for you .
