ToriTatsu (Freeware doujin shmup)

Post by Subterranean Sun »

I'm surprised that nobody in this forum ever mention this game... It was my favorite freeware shmup. I will say it's the best Ketsui-like doujin shmup!

This game features a 2-loop game, 3 difficulties and 4 secret ships. It's pretty tough (second loop is as hard as dodonpachi) but very fun.

You can download it at http://www.vector.co.jp/soft/win95/game/se441907.html. Warning: AppLocale is required.

(Please delete this thread if it's some sort of illegal.)

I've played it, It's not better than Ketsui. But it does copy a good number of patterns from Ketsui.

He never said it's better than Ketsui, just that it's the best from Ketsui doujins. Although I think BWR and PatriotDark are still bit better when it comes to quality and Marsh STG has bit more Ketsui like patterns but the game seems pretty fun.

I remember playing an earlier version of this before when it had 3 levels and DFK-like hyper system.

I don't really understand most of the options though, could someone bother giving a quick translation? How do you loop the game? I played the game through once and it ended after the first loop. And how do you unlock the secret ships?

Game looks dull, patterns look great. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VxQAyRvpHhE&NR=1

Gameplay is most important though, so I'm gonna try it for sure.

Isn't that there is a sequel already?
There's no standards in shmups. Only what most people prefers.
Euroshmups are inferior, but not all of them sucks.
Jap shmups are superior, but not all of them great.

Both MARSH and EXTRA are great games. However, my PC was too old to play these games - terrible slowdown makes them completely impossble to play. Too bad...

This is its sequel, ToriTatsu II. I'm not going to play it seriously until they release the full version.

This is from the official site:

HOW TO UNLOCK THE SECRET SHIPS

"Rhythm"
・Launch the game for more than 10 times.
・AND Play the game for more than 100 minutes.

"Blue Box"
・Die a total of 100 times.
・AND loop it for at least once.

"Kitsukoro"
・Play as Blue Box for at least 10 times.
・AND reach the TLB stage (2-6, or 2-X) in boss rush mode.
・AND the 1st place in hi-score ranking must own a score of at least 300 mil points.

"Stick Human"
・Play as Rhythm for at least 10 times.
・AND the 1st place in hi-score ranking must own a score of at least 600 mil points.

HOW TO LOOP THIS GAME
・Have at least 120 mil points after you cleared the first loop.
・OR collect at least 23 blue birds at first loop. (There are 5 blue birds in each stage, if you don't know where are they, watch this vid: http://www.nicovideo.jp/watch/sm4493707)

You can't loop in Very Easy mode, and if you are playing the boss rush mode, you will automatically loop it by clear the first loop.
