Nice. Just as I had about given up on the idea of seeing these ported, here they are.

Even the Wii should be able to do these games justice graphically, especially considering
how well Ghost Squad was handled.
Kinect? KIN NOT.

I cannot get that page to load. What games are they?

And how are light gun games on the Wii? Does it handle them well?

Are these good games? Never heard of them. They looked really old from the videos I looked at.

'neways, where is my Virtua Cop Collection? Always wanted to play #3.

Gunblade N.Y. has some awesome wailing guitars.

Is the other game Light Ghost or whatever it's called?

Actually it's something called LA Machineguns, which I've never heard of.

Gunblade is all about wacking the huge mounted joystick gun controller from side to side to stop many missiles hitting you.. such a hard but fun game.
LA Machineguns is the sequel, which I haven't actually played!

Yeah, I recall playing the deluxe GunBlade arcade cab at my local arcade back in the 1990s...the gun shook like crazy whenever you fired. The recoiling effect give it a cool touch (that playing it on Mame/Mame32 emu or eventually on the Wii) just doesn't do the original cab justice -- typical of them arcade cabinets back in the early 1990s to incorporate features/enhancements not found on the home gaming console release if it was ever released at all.

It's good to see Sega mining their back catalog to release some of their arcade hits on modern-day gaming consoles. It was awesome to play Sega's GB cab on a huge 50" 4:3 aspect ratio CRT-based projection screen monitor setup. Bigger than life indeed.

Nice. Now maybe people will actually be able to make heads or tails of the Gunblade T-shirt I've been rocking for the last decade.

Played La Machine Guns at a Kokomos in Saginaw (the arcade there still exists). Trust me, this game is win in every way possible a light gun game can be. :D

I wonder if they'll bundle it with a machine gun stand. It'd be cool if somewhat silly.

This is great news. I like these two games quite a bit.

Although yea, the thing I remember most about them was the big honkin' guns and all the bass shaking the floor every time something explodes. ***BOOOOOOOOOOM***

F*************************CK YEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEESSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSS!

Though they were not originally lightgun games (Two potentiometers, one for each of the X and Y axes), the Wii is the best platform to play these. HOTD 2 and 3, and Overkill play sweetly on it. Maybe they will release a Virtua Cop 1, 2 and HOTD 1 compilation later?

amazing humanoid technology. How the wii sensor can be calibrated to know what your shooting at on a HD flat panel tv is beyond me.

I was kinda dissapointed with Polygon Magic's wii version of Ghost Squad running at 30 instead of the Chihiro(Xbox) original 60 fps.

Glad Sega made a better job with the HOT Dead 3 Chihiro port. I believe that was an internal project.

Never seen the Model 3 powered LA Machine Guns so looking forward to that and if its sells maybe Sega will bring a The Lost World collection.

I've adored Ghost Squad and the House of the Dead games on Wii. The issue of Ghost Squad running at 30 never affected my enjoyment. This is great news.

The rail shooter catalog on the Wii has caused something of a lightgun renaissance in my house in the last year or so, and the G-cons are constantly out these days, so I'm delighted to hear we've got two more on the way (and yeah – i know G-cons and such aren't technically lightguns. Doesn't that term actually refer to a kind of end-of-the-pier/midway amusment machine? And I don't mean the game company Midway!).

Wow, this is totally awesome news. I remember playing LA Machinegunsat Exhilarama here in St. Louis years ago on a giant projection screen.. I think there's still a Gunblade on location at a go-kart/mini golf joint here now. I remember actually playing Gunblade Deluxe at an arcade in Dallas in some mall while on a business trip.

It's sweet that they're putting the games out. But if just won't be the same without a huge plastic machine gun vibrating like mad.

Some 3rd party should make some ridiculous huge vibrating gun. I can picture it!
Or mod this, just throw a wiimote in here with something vibrating.

£18 from play.co.uk
http://www.play.com/Games/Wii/4-/159711 ... oduct.html

EDIT: Only £15 from Blockbuster!

Chain combo system has been added, sounds good to me.

OK, fingers crossed for a Star Wars Trilogy Arcade and Lost World collection... Plus Vampire Night, HOTD 4... and HOTD 1...

Yeah, I'm actually kind of thrilled that these are coming out (though I'd prefer HOTD1). I actually liked the Ghost Squad port a lot.. it's definitely one of the better lightgun games. The framerate was OK- it's 30 and still dips every now and then. The arcade one tried for 60 but was a jitterfest.. pick your poison I guess. I expect these will be a lot smoother.

I have House of the Dead Overkill and I really do not like the Wiimote as a replacement for a lightgun. The on screen cursor gets "hung up" and freezes randomly. Is that just a problem with Overkill?

Yeah, those do wonders for the feel! I still can't manage to calibrate the wiimote though so that it can aim at the top of the tv (sensor bar at the bottom).. any tips?

I have trouble calibrating too. It seems that it is always off.

I have one of the Perfectshot guns but that does nothing to help with the cursor hanging.

Overkill is really glitchy - I think it's supposed to replicate an old film... stupid considering accuracy. Same with Darkside Chronicles... camera wobble in a lightgun shooter... duh.

I've got the Overkill handcannon and I've picked up most of the lightgun shooters available for the Wii - they all seem accurate to me, more so than the dreamcast gun anyhow. Try Ghost Squad or Umbrella Chronicles.
