Hacking a Genesis controller

Post by johnwroachiii »

I'm going to build a Genesis adapter for my stick. I heard somewhere that Genny controller ports are 1 to 1 and can be wired directly. Is that true, or do I need to hack a pad? Google turns up lots of info on using the controller on a computer, which is exactly the opposite of what I want to do. :D

False, they are not 1:1, but the usual padhacking techniques can be applied.

As an alternative, I believe the circuit is relatively simple enough that you can build it with a handful of off-the-shelf components if you don't want to padhack it. gamesx website should have more information.

edit: Here you go. You can probably make your adapter really tiny if you build it on a perfboard instead of padhacking. Or you can desolder the IC from a pad and put that on a board :p
