Most rewatchable movies
Most rewatchable movies
I'm a pretty hardcore fan of cinema, but there are only a few movies I could watch over and over...
If you could name one highly-rewatchable one (not the best movie, just one that resists to an abusive number viewings), what would it be?
Chungking Express comes to mind for me... If I had to pick another one, I'd go for Aguirre, Wrath of God.

I would watch John Woo's The Killer every night in the summer of 2008 and never tired of it. It still goes into rotation right now especially on the weekends.

Gods and generals, Gettysburg and Silent Running. Don't ask me why, but I have a thing for the CSA.

I'm a junkie for sci-fi and action. Ronin, The Hidden, Heat, Deja Vu, Ninja Scroll, Vampire Hunter D:Bloodlust, Van Helsing, etc. I could watch over and over and over again.

I watch Miss Congeniality at least once a year. Usually more since it's on TV fairly often.

"Aguirre: The Wrath of God" would be my choice as well. Well, I guess there are a number of herzog movies I could watch again and again.
I also would mention Tarkovsky's Solyaris and Andrei Rublev.

Big Trouble In Little China. I love that movie, and have watched it many times. Because it fits with the movie, I really enjoy rewatching Groundhog Day.

Re: Most rewatchable movies
I don't rewatch movies. If I do, it's usually out of boredom. I don't have any specific movies that I'd like to watch again, maybe some old Disney stuff as a kid. I don't even rewatch superplays. I don't have a dvd or blu-ray collection. Blu-Ray would be nice, but I have a PAL PS3, and most of the good stuff is Region A. Most of the recent stuff I've seen has been bad (I Am Legend), or good but I don't want to see it again (8 pounds).

Blazing Saddles. I've seen it at least 30 times, own it on several formats and still crack up every time I watch it. There was a point when it was such a regular staple of my viewing that i could practically recite the script from memory. Same goes for Army of Darkness.
Cowboy Bebop: Knockin' on Heavan's Door is a curious one for me. I generally hate anime, but for some reason I regularly sit down and give it a watch every few months.

Nobody who wrote the script thought that 200 dead bodies in the movie would be enough corneas to donate to the poor lady. Great movie though.KindGrind wrote:Amazing movie, that. Hero, Braveheart, gladiator, Aliens, Leon (aka The professional), The ring, Spaceballs.
I like a lot of stuff actually.. I could watch Star Wars a few more times

Re: Most rewatchable movies
That would be Episodes 4 through 6 and none of the craptatistic Episodes 1 through 3, right? Only if George Lucas would re-release the original SW trilogy on Blu-Ray format...sure would look damn awesome in 1080p with proper 24 frame playback mode.neorichieb1971 wrote:Nobody who wrote the script thought that 200 dead bodies in the movie would be enough corneas to donate to the poor lady. Gattaca, Halloween, and the original Star Wars trilogy. Most everything else bores me to tears after a few watches.
Re: Most rewatchable movies
Spider-Man 2, anything by Hal Hartley from the '90s, Die Hard, and I'm gonna have to second Big Trouble in Little China.
I had a roommate in college that was really into Miss Congeniality and it was playing on TV all the time and he would watch it every time it was on. I wanted to kill myself (or him).

I was stunned when Sandra Bullock's name was announced that she won for best actress in a leading role for her portrayal in 'The Blind Side" film at this year's Oscars. What an honor indeed.

Dark City, Terminator 2, Star Wars trilogy (shouldn't even have to mention which trilogy, even though the OT itself isn't exactly a masterwork of cinema)...
I'd mention Charlie Jade, but that's a TV series, though you could probably watch it as a fifteen-hour movie and not be disappointed.

I don't re-watch movies but there are movies I could always watch again. Akira is one I've seen plenty of times.

Otomo-san's Akira anime masterpiece holds up to this day...even on Blu-Ray format, it is epic. Got the Japanese VHS version back in early 1990 and was blown away by the overall story despite it being dubbed in Japanese. Even the Akira OST is amazing.
