completely normal, I've had a board do the same thing. ignore it and play the game :p

in fact now I look at the pictures, the artifacts were in the exact same place also, pixel for pixel.

Changing the +5v on the power supply did nothing either.

I don't know what the problem is, but that's definitely not normal. I've owned a few Espgaluda II boards and none of them ever looked like that.

But I've also read comments where the exact same board that exhibited the problem on one cab, didn't do it on another.

What cabinet and what monitor chassis are you using?

I've heard some SH3 boards have problems with a certain monitor chassis, it happened on an MS9 29A on mine, Ibara never does it though, thats the only other SH3 I've tried.

The more I think about it, the more trouble I have wrapping my head around it.

Just by looking, it seems to be a pixel-level issue. That really doesn't seem like something that could be caused by any monitor/chassis interaction with the PCB.

yes yours does.
Damn Tim, you know there are quite a few Americans out there who still lives in tents due to this shitty economy, and you're dropping loads on a single game which only last 20 min. Do you think it's fair? How much did you spend this time?

Looks like a RAM fault to be honest, or indeed ROM if it never changes.

I presume it has nothing to do with Bloodflower's previous comment about software based screen positions on some different pcbs? : http://shmups.system11.org/viewtopic.php?f=6&t=29481

The fault only occurs in certain sections? ... does the glitch appear then disappear? ... how does the glitch behave if/when screen fades/scrolls? ... Is the glitch of the same consistency or does it get worse in certain periods? Does the color of the glitch relate to the color of the base graphic [it does appear to... being the reason I brought up bloodflowers previous suggestion - sampling problem?]

Beyond that, if it does a similar thing on another cab/supergun and screen I'd be tempted to get a refund as soon as possible if its ruining your expereince (probably not what you want to do, but usually better done earlier than later imho).

It has spread to other areas in the game as well any where there is white text has blue dots in areas. The seller swears is was not like this and offers no help to me what so ever on this issue and basically told me to get Bent. I have since sent the pcb to cave to have it looked at and repaired. Not to turn this thread into bs but i asked the seller to help me cover some of these costs and i got got the shaft basically. Live and learn i guess.

Tonk i have not sold it as its a keeper for sure.

Dave it does this on all 3 of my astros and both of my cyber leads. Of course there all ms8-ms9's

I checked with Luca and the GFX ROM does NOT contain any of these artifacts.

This was checked on Espgaluda II, "2005/11/14 MASTER VER"

Board came back yesterday and appears to be in good shape. Thanks for the help guys. Thanks Kern for bitch slapping me around :)
But it is for sale now the dodgy sale to me and the sour ending of more money kinda turned me off to the board.
