Probably would have gotten farther if I hadn't completely lost it on Gorgoneion's third phase. Also, the picture was taken at this point because, once again, VJoy messed up my game so I couldn't save my progress. This is seriously not cool.
The "funen" part of my name is Japanese, which means "not able to burn". I am slightly pyrophobic, so I tend not to get burned (literally, mind you).

Third phase is easy with practice, fourth phase is a real bitch. Sorry about your control issues: I don't know how to help. I guess you better get a new .iso of the game and a new keyboard.
New high! Huge improvements; 732 oku at end of stage 1, 4 lives at end of stage 2 boss, made it to stage 3 boss!

Someone back on MotK helped me out with a new key remapper, and now I can finally play the living daylights out of this game.

First up, Original Mode 1cc:

v1.00 - Original - Type I
Funen1 - 1276億3602万2900 - x12334 - ALL CLEAR!! - Picture

Crimson Heart 2 is too easy. Even though I still died once near the end of it.

But the screenshot wouldn't have said Stage 6 boss, it would have said EX boss. Or was there a patch I'm unaware of or something :X

Hmm…? What…? http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sC9DRuqv47s

Related note: got to stage5 boss last form with 4271oku, and Crossover promptly crashed with a couple of millimeters of boss health left. Not best pleased. :/
Don't really want to dualboot my MBP, but judging by how unstable Crossover gets at the last boss, it looks increasingly likely that I'll have to…
Also, ended stage4 with a touch over 2000oku and six lives, and then proceeded to make a bunch of mistakes during the stage5 trip, all during key scoring locations. 4500+oku or bust.

Another big improvement to scoring in the first two stages, but Stage 3 is a giant bitch. I also die too much to Stage 2 midboss, but other than that not so bad. I did have a lot of trouble with lock-ons at the rampart section of Stage 1, but managed to get over that as well.

I'll show the picture like this because of something else...

Why must my non-1ccs be better than ones that actually beat Crimson Heart? I know I messed up parts of Stage 5 in my 1474 oku run, but still. I even had a really good Stage 2 score, and that was completely by accident. I only hope I can remember what I did that time.

Go for scoring over survival. You'll find that the two generally work together. Don't sweat the 1cc thing, just try to get your score as high as possible.

Update checkpoint.
Icarus is too beastly goddamn.
Also, as the scoreboard gets bigger and bigger, more typos might happen so if you see a mistake somewhere, let me know.

I got quite far into stage 5 by luck. My scoring is still bad though.

1.00 - Unlimited - Type I
Battletoad - 105億5023万8500 - x7883 - Stage 1 Boss

Practiced this mode quite a bit, yet I only got to stage 2 once.
I think I'll wait for Type Z and then try to get a bit more serious. Does anyone know when/how Type Z is unlocked?

Getting better with "scoring", though most of the stages are far from optimal (because I haven't practiced them yet). I am learning how to do Stage 1, and while I haven't broken 300 oku there, I'm getting real close. I completely lost it on Diabolos though - 4 deaths for the loss . If I had done any better on him, I might have gotten farther on Crimson Heart. I'm pretty sure at this point I can break 2000 oku just by not dying as much as I did.

Diabolos becomes real easy with practice, unlike that fucking rubber ball that eats my lives in seconds GRAAAAGH. The first phase is easy if you stay roughly in the center and microtap from side to side, and the second phase is a matter of break distribution. Third phase is easy so long as you again stay in the center.

All of those deaths were really stupid, hence my reaction. I've no-missed Diabolos before, so I know what to expect. I just completely failed at it the last time.

Jumping in on the underpopulated Simple Mode - Type Z board:

Image
v1.00 - Simple - Type Z
mjclark - 6286万9640 - ALL CLEAR!!

Not sure if this score is really legit though cos I "borrowed" the Type Z ship by starting the game with someone else's savedata :D

And is there any HTML/BBC code to make my posted images larger, or do I just have to resize them myself?

New high score with Type 1:

v1.00 - Original - Type I
Anesthetize - 983億6588万8740 - x9477 - Stage 5

But, that run finally gave me enough stars to buy Type Z, which led to the following score on my first run with Type Z:

v1.00 - Original - Type Z
Anesthetize - 2338億0258万0200 - x12139 - EX Boss

The 1cc shouldn't be too far around the corner. Just need to practice the end bosses (I had never seen them before this run). The only problem is...I totally feel like I'm cheating when playing Type Z.

Ver 1.0 Simple Type II

stryc9 6209,3040 All Clear

Simple mode is easy, but not THAT easy to 1CC. Some of the bullets later on go by real quick. You have to be careful on the EX Bosses.

and...

Ver 1.0 Simple Type I

stryc9 7157,9450 Stage 5 Boss

I knew it wouldn't take much longer. 2nd attempt with Type Z resulted in the 1CC (I still kinda feel like I'm cheating while using Type Z, though). Don't you hate it when your 1CC score is lower than your score from a run without a full clear?

Image

v1.00 - Original - Type Z
Anesthetize - 2211億1119万9850 - x12672 - ALL CLEAR!!

Now that the pressure's off I can work on improving score. I already know of a lot of things I did wrong on the last two runs.

Made it to Stage 3 final phase, was looking at break bar for a second and died because I didn't put myself in a safe area. Great scoring on Stage 2 all of a sudden, but that was due to a mistake in timing and I don't think I can replicate it (will practice that tomorrow rather than going for another run). Pretty good performance, but yet again cannot get the timing for DB'ing the Stage 1 boss. Frustrating, to say the least.
