Playable modes: Original, Unlimited and Time Attack (which gives you unlimited break mode, but the difficulty and bullet speed jacks up).
Strange; after a location test in February, someone on NeoGAF (is that you?) said that Simple Mode was replaced with something called Boost Mode. I wonder what happened to it.
No that was me.
Boost Mode is still in as far as I can tell from Rancor's vid. I guess that makes a total of four modes?
Oh, so it is. How could I have missed that? It seems like there are four modes then.

We just got this on our Nessica machine so I tried it out for the first time yesterday. My god this game is pure Shmup cocaine!

This should have been posted here too http://www.ustream.tv/recorded/31936601/theater
Great recorded stream where expert players clear the game including the new time attack mode, which has a complete new stage/enemies/bosses.

Man, I really wish I could try out the new versions. Even the graphical updates leave me a bit jealous.

Just want to chime in and agree with this.
I played about an hour of the game yesterday at my local arcade and was blown away. I was pretty hyped from the arcade show back in February, but the game is just so fucking manic and relentless it's amazing. I honestly think this is in my top 5 shooters after just that short session yesterday. It's that good.

My arcade is lucky enough to have a white NESiCA cab, which has the least amount of lag. It feels smooth as butter, like you're playing on a CRT. In fact it took me a few minutes to re-adjust to not having any perceptible lag at all. Incidentally, if you are in Japan and playing this, lag for NESiCA cabs is best on white cabs, OK on red cabs and noticable on blue cabs in that order apparently.

Yep, I felt the same. I haven't been this pulled in by a shmup since when I first played Exelica. If my friends hadn't pried me off the machine I would have been there all night.

Also I had no idea the nessica cabs were any different, thanks for that info. We have 3 and they are all a little different, but I can't remember the colors. I thought they were black, but maybe they weren't. I know they aren't red. In any case I didn't notice any lag. I'll make sure to try it on a white cab if I get a chance, but unfortunately the arcade that has white cabs is pretty far away.

I wonder what the chances of a console port are. Would buy this for the 360 for sure.

Me too, if I could only have one on consoles I would actually take this over Saidaioujou. That's how good it is.

It looks like a PC/X360 version has already been asked about here, but no reply yet http://yotsubane.blog99.fc2.com/blog-entry-51.html#cm

If the game is out of print by now I can only expect he'll come up with a repackaging of the game with this included at a later date. (To avoid overlapping with the arcade release, so most probably for Winter Comiket or Summer Comiket of next year.)

Looks great, and it even makes the old PC release look like a beta version in comparison.

I'd love to get a re-release of this with all the extra stuff but wouldn't there be quite a big chance that Yotsubane signed some sort of exclusivity contract with Nesica, or something along those lines, that prevents that re-release or port from happening?

I have not played SDOJ, but I would be saying that with games at this level of polish it comes down to personal preference.

Both games offer different challenges in the different ways you can approach then. Your favorite would be the one that gives you the challenges you may like more.

I find both of then very appealing though I still have to try SDOJ to be sure.

At least SDOJ has TATE. This looks great though, would probably buy it for the 360, TATE or not.

I was thinking about this too. In addition to whatever contract signed off with Taito to get the game on NESiCAxLive, Adventure Planning Services also appears to have their name on this version of the game. So a simple doujin re-release of this game with the new content might be more complicated to pull off.

The fact that some bigger company has its name on it I would think is good for an eventual console port. And I highly doubt the exclusivity contract that was signed with Taito (pretty sure there is one) wont be forever.

So I played this some more today and actually I think it would be better if they didn't make a console version.

You see, this game is basically shmup porn, and if we could play it all the time we wouldn't be able to get it up for regular shmups anymore...

Had a few credits this afternoon. Boost Mode seems pretty cool - once you fill up the break meter you enter Break Mode automatically and (I think) stay in Break Mode until you use a bomb or die. Of course, this increases the rank, so things start to get harder. There are extra points bonuses along the way, which flash up on the screen as 'Boost Bonus', or something like that.

Original Mode seems slightly different than before. Break Mode doesn't seem to last as long, so it's harder to reach Double Break Mode (unless you fill the 2nd bar up before you trigger Break Mode). The new extend system seems to work pretty well, and is mainly dependent on gathering tons of stars in Double Break Mode. There are some new mid-bosses, while main bosses have some different attacks.

Time Attack is a complete rush. 3 minutes, absolutely packed to bursting point with enemies and bullets. It's awesome. I suspect, if a new PC version does ever get released, that I might end up playing this mode even more than the others.

Just curious, how do you switch between games in Nesica cabinets? I wanted to try out Akai Katana Shin as well (which I've never played), but I couldn't work out how to get to the select menu...

Thanks! I guess it's probably written somewhere on the cab, if only I spoke Japanese. :)

For those few who have played the arcade version, how would you say the graphics look compared to the PC version? I can't really tell from the vids.

I thought the game was great, but had a "rough" look to it. I was wondering if it's been smoothed out.

Yeah, I was wondering that too. The 3D assets in the PC game were not rendered with internal anti-aliasing, which made them look pretty noisy. If that was fixed the game would look a lot better already.
