Trying to make the best of my custom firmware. I tried the Noiz2sa and rRootage ports, but to my dismay, they didn't work. :/ The unofficial Geometry Wars port works great (aside from no sound effects, which becomes problematic when those red fuckers appear), but I'm really looking for an excuse to hold my PSP sideways some more. Star Soldier PSP didn't do it for me, and the only games my Final Burn Alpha can run are Dodonpachi (which I OWN the Saturn version of, thank you) and Esprade (which I would own if it was ever ported, but CAVE didn't want Saturn/PS1 owners to have nice things, so it would seem). So... yeah. PSP homebrew shmups. Preferably (not to be a weeaboo, but...) Japanese ones, since they know quality. (I've rarely played a traditional scrolling shmup made by western developers without facepalming and deleting due to lackluster gameplay and/or sloppy visuals)
EDIT: I got Noiz2sa running. Just needed a different version; the one I tried before didn't seem to like my firmware. Still, I'm hoping there's some gems out there that perhaps only you guys know about.
Good PSP homebrew shmups?

What about the Tyrian 2000 source port?
In an alternate universal, Soldier Blade II has already been crafted by Hudson Soft and Compile with proper tate this time around (c) PC Engine Fan X!
Sega tried and failed. Nintendo didn't even try. (c) Specineff

You know... I know this will sound like heresy, but I never did like Tyrian. :/ I tried to tolerate the loose controls, I really did.

No replies... is it because I said something bad about Tyrian?

Re: Good PSP homebrew shmups?
Its probably because there isn't really anything else. There are two homebrew shooters I can't remember the names of, the first one was just crap and I couldn't find a download for the second one anywhere, though it looked fairly promising.

I remember the hombrew R-Type tribute "R-Gear": http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0S--IU0HFOk
Some years old and I don't know how far it was developed, but you might want to give it a try...

I'm pretty sure I googled far and wide for R-Gear but couldn't find an upload of it anywhere.
At least Toho Imitation Style is a decent game. IMO, far better than Mountain of Faith and Subterranean Animism, and this is a FAN game we're talking about. That's just sad. Recommended for anyone with a PSP and wants a hard original shmup.

I uploaded R-Gear here: http://www.megaupload.com/?d=O8WTKS7E
Haven't tried it in a while. It's possible that it requires a 1.5 kernel in the CFW.
