Space Invaders Extreme 2

Post by gs68 »

Rules:
- No paddle controller!
- One credit, 3 lives. To ensure that you don't break these conditions, please use Ranking -> Score/Time Attack mode.
- Please specify what mode (Score Attack or Time Attack) and course (Normal or Extreme) your record is for. If you don't specify both, I will not add you to the rankings.
- Scores in this format: [NAME] - [SCORE] - [STAGE PATH (i.e. 3-A, 4-B, 5-C), add [ALL] if all stages cleared] (If you don't remember the exact path, or if you die before stage 3 (on Normal) or stage 4 (on Extreme), just put down the last stage reached along with whatever other stages you remember.)
- Times in this format: [NAME] - [TIME] - [STAGE PATH] (1CC indicator not needed, due to the nature of time attack. Again, if you don't remember the path, put down what you remember.)
- Rules and thread ownership are subject to change.

With all of that said...Stand by! Ready?

I would have guessed you'd be the one to host this thread! No better person for this game!

I'll be buying a copy of this real soon. I've got a plane flight to Russia to fill in a couple of weeks, so I'll be back!

Decided to try Time Attack [Normal]:

Image

Bah, I fucked up Stage 5-A by accidentally triggering a Round near the end, causing the stage to loop and forcing me to wait until time ran out.
gs68 - 13'58"36 - 3-A, 4-A, 5-A

It's a shame very few people are playing the SIE series at a competitive level. I've been working on lowering my individual stage times; 1'18" for Stage 1 and 1'56" for Stage 2.

Thanks for creating this thread, I love SIE2.

Score Attack, Normal:
Pit - 43,310,530 - 3-A, 4-A, 5-A

I didn't lose any life in the first 4 stages but then totally messed up the final one.

As promised, I spent my plane flight playing this, but I became far too obsessed with getting three-line 'Full House' bingo - something which took me two or three attempts at the Feature in any given credit, and subsequently wasn't very productive in terms of scoring. I'm sticking with this one though!

Score Attack - Normal:

spadgy - 19,431,720 - 3-A, 4-A, 5-A

Pics to come when I can make my phone Bluetooth cooperate...

Please forgive the absolutely horrendous image quality; I just wanted to get a picture, and my cell phone was the only camera I had on hand.

Score Attack - Normal:
donotcare95 - 44,034,420 - ALL (3-B, 4-C, 5-D)

Lots and lots of Fever and Bingo Fever milking (but only one or two Two-Line Fevers). I also went for Roulette UFOs whenever possible - I had six spare ships going into the final boss (and lost three of them).

Well, first US-version 1CC, anyway, if I'm reading PCEFX!'s post right. Thanks, though!

A note: You can't play Extreme difficulty in Ranking mode, and finishing the game in Ranking mode doesn't unlock Extreme for the regular game mode (which means I get to play through again).

Ah. I didn't see the 1CC indicator in his post at first.

Uh, you can. Maybe you didn't unlock it in regular mode yet?

Score Attack Normal
BBH - 56,659,940 - 3A, 4A, 5B (clear)

Time Attack Normal
BBH - 12'20"16 - 3A, 4A, 5A

Funny thing is I only played 5B in the Score Attack run because it was the last stage I needed to clear to unlock Extreme, and beating it in Ranking mode did unlock Extreme. So whatevs.

! Nice job, BBH :) I'm sure DNC enjoyed it while it lasted.

Personally, I tried playing this game for score one time, and I just can't do it. Sickens me. Throws me into convulsions. The only way to save myself is by playing something like DOJ or Ibara or Under Defeat or SIE1.

What the hell, man. I don't remember the first game's Extreme course being this hard.

Doesn't really mean much since Icarus hasn't gotten around to posting his 75 million score here. :P

I don't mind playing this game for score at all. Yes you gotta go slower, but that gives you more time to enjoy the music. The only thing I can't bring myself to do is Nagoya Bonus, that's just stupid.

Anyway, a Score Attack Extreme mode score... puts me juuuust out of the top 10 on the global leaderboard... :(

Kinda wish Squtainix would release SIE2 US version closer to JP release date (as well as other shmup publishers), so that people wouldn't have the misconception that Japanese player = automatically good at shmups.

But this being Square-Enix, it's not happening anytime soon.

Score Attack - Extreme
donotcare95 - 8,272,210 - 2

My first time playing in days, and I lost four lives in rapid succession because of some particularly stupid mistakes. I just don't find the Extreme course as much fun as the normal course for some reason.

When I went to GameStop to buy SIE2 on Halloween (so a week and a half after the game came out), I had to ask if they had a copy, because it wasn't on the shelves. Lack of presence on store shelves isn't helping with anything either.

Or just bite the bullet and order the JPN version of DS SIE-2 and not have to worry about when the USA localization of SIE-2 would be. ^_~

I can do much better, but for now just to add to the (unfortunately sparse) rankings:

Score Attack, Normal:

WarpZone - 26,021,040 3-A, 4-A, 5-A

This is a brilliant game, way more enjoyable than the first, too.

Hey Warpzone, I see we play the same game again :D

Score attack normal :

Guigui | 58.541.230 | 3-A, 4-A, 5-A ALL

Time attack normal :

Guigui - 12'14"38 - 3A, 4A, 5A

Pretty decent score on score attack even though I dont know stage 5A enough. Missed at least 2 two lines fever in it.
Anyone knows what is the "all levels cleared" bonus at the end of the game ? I always get 0 even though I 1CC...

Thanks for real fast update gs.

Spent an hour improving my time attack, got under 12 minutes. A paddle controller might help here. I'm sure I can do better. I triggered two fevers on the last waves of stages 3 and 5, which is no good idea since it only lengthens the stage..

Or if Americans played shmups and Japanese players played FPS's

then we'd be like "man those crazy japanese and their first person sh00ters, beating haylow on legendaree"
