Yeah this game feels like a more natural progression from older games to a modern 3d rendered game (like Ultimate Ghosts n' goblins). It looks to be avoiding the advances of G Darius and also Darius Gaiden. A bit of a return to form with the sizes of the bosses seen thus far.

Darius Fans Rejoice! :D

I'm really digging the stark but scarily detailed backgrounds - I'm hoping to have this game in my hands ASAP! I'm already sold; so I'm going to start filtering info to avoid spoilers...

Compliments to you, devilmanozzy for keeping the spirit alive!

Not to mention that the Coronatus-type chappy is roughly the same size as all of his predecessors.

its a miniboss anyway, note the small ships. Green coronatus was slightly bigger, almost whole screen in height

I dont know why darius gaiden, bosses were pretty much a size equal to in every game before it

EDIT: wanted to say that Darius Gaiden wasnt much of an advance but an update in the gameplay. Remove the bomb and capturing minibosses and you have something really close to "Darius II" but with harder bosses.

The Gaiden/II comparison is a good one. Consider that all the tiers of Darius II have a theme (sun, Mercury, Venus, etc.) and all the levels of Gaiden tend to have some kind of theme, like the fourth tier levels have that opening with the rush of enemies and warp, or the later tier with the descent through the atmosphere.

Too much grey, but the music is nice and the game looks decent. Which is surprising, after all it's Darius we're talking about.

Just bought a PSP for this game

Post by fireleo4 »

The trailer looks really promising and i just got myself a PSP for Darius Burst.

I liked Darius Gaiden the most, followed by G.Darius.

Bring it on Taito.

One major improvement in Darius Gaiden is that you don't lose all your weapons if you die. You can come back in Darius Gaiden if you lose a ship. Forget it in Darius II.

Awesome trailer. Day one import... Final answer! :D

It helps if people read youtube descriptions every once in awhile.
I haven't actively browsed/used this forum in many years and it's no longer an accurate representation of me.

I have retired from genre-specific content creation after 13 years, but I'll always love this little genre in my own personal way.

Improvement when compared with Darius II. I think Darius and G-Darius had the best weapon system (lose all your powerups but weapon stays in the same level)

I don't like the original Darius system because it simply takes too long to power up. Gaiden and G. got it better with the smaller number of powerups between levels. Seriously, 8 powerups to get a double bomb is just too much.

Could do like Darius Twin-keep EVERYTHING on respawn!

Thank you for pointing that out to me, sir. I actually did attempt to read that description, but I gave up after a couple of what I think are...sentences? Also, I just couldn't help but gaze at the video full-screen and just say, "Fuuuuuuuuuck!"!!! Then I had to go to work.

And, yeah I agree with Kollision on that date - it sucks; cause I want at least TWO copies. Shit. :(

Actually, to me it resembles a highly sharpened and sleeked-out version of the "support ship" that streaks across the screen when you continue in Darius Gaiden - of course they tooled with the original color scheme (with stunning results). What would you wager that's what it is? 8)

National Console Support is taking pre-orders for the Japanese Darius Burst. It's scheduled to ship on 12/24/09 for $53.90.

I think I'll wait a bit to see if an English version is announced...

My god, that trailer is INCREDIBLE. If it's anywhere near as good as G-Darius, as it looks to be, I'll be buying a PSP just for this.

edit: and if the music is any indication, I'll be hunting down a soundtrack like it's my mission in life.
