Or the ring of a Force Unit. It looks kinda weird.

Way to go Taito and ruining the sense of scale found in G. Darius.

Wanted to give the game a chance since it is Darius despite being on a PSP, but if the scale of everything is back to Darius Gaiden, leave me out.

What do you mean by "sense of scale"? Genuinely curious because I've never heard that used in a G-Darius to Darius Gaiden comparison before.

Look at the fire fossil of G. Darius.

Now, look at this:

Image

Which of these two looks more like a monstrosity that is bigger, wields more firepower, and is faster than the largest capital ship your military can build which can single-handedly wipe out an entire space fleet, thus forcing the re-utilization of a forbidden weapon which can DESTROY PLANETS as well as using the enemy's own hyper-advanced technology and putting both onto the Silver Hawk in a desperate attempt to prevent your race from inevitable extinction?

Well off the bat the graphics in the 13 images seen so far have been disappointing as this mostly looks to be a step backwards to me. But then again it may get better with more pictures.

Orly? I thought they looked like they were on-par w/ other PS2 shmups w/ rendered-style imagery, like R-Type Final.

Me and my buddy used to play G-Darius all the time just because of the bosses. They're so incredibly well done that they still look fantastic after all these years. My favorites aren't necessarily the biggest bosses, but the ones that display the most originality. I love Dimension Diver, Absolute defender, Fire Fossil and Great Thing. They're just plain cool. I'd be surprise if Taito manages to one up G-Darius after not making any significant shmup in more than a decade.

Burst looks like it'll scale down in the size department, but that shell boss is fairly sized. Maybe that Queen Fossil is a baby Queen Fossil?. It's not the first time that a boss comes out just to get devoured by an even bigger one.

Yes, which is on top of the fact that every one of the bosses in G. Darius, be it an old or new one, are the biggest I've ever seen and dwarf the silver hawks. Yet they're pretty nimble for something that's bigger than a captial ship and bearing more firepower than they do.

I mean, come on, look at the seahorse boss from G. Darius and compare it to the Burst one:

Image

I really hope that is just a miniboss instead of the stage boss.

I'm going to be on the pessimistic side and say that unless they're going to be getting help with the game from G.Rev, it's probably not going to turn out so hot. It might end up like Otomedius where there's the ships that were designed for the game and then those decided by meddling executives that are extremely overpowered.

Then again, Galaga Legions was pretty good. But the devs were already riding on the success from Pac Man CE, so I guess Namco decided that the team was good enough to not require executive meddling.

Nothing announced yet. Just ten more days till TGS, I wouldn't be surprised if they will mention a release date there.

I love that music. It can only be the work of OGR.

I'm guessing that the Coronatus in the below pic might indeed be a miniboss.
Kinect? KIN NOT.

Typical Darius weirdness. I love it! The synth voices sound a little like Metroid Prime until that big digital slide. I don't intend to buy a PSP even for Darius, but I'll very likely buy the soundtrack if it gets released.

Yeah the music/noise on that page was pleasing to the ears.

For me, it'll be a (which friend has a psp and how can I get a week alone with the title) type thang.

Yeah, I just watched that footage a minute ago, and it looks sweet! Graphically, it almost looks like they've brought Darius up to the level of Gradius V! I can't wait! :D

Finally another Darius game; I thought Taito would never do this.

I recall hearing that it stands for "Genesis", though either way it doesn't matter a heck of a lot, heh heh.

Even as a huge Darius fan, I can't hide the fact that what I'm looking forward to more than anything else is seeing the names of the new bosses.

Man, that DOES look good, all 10 seconds or so. I'm sure this will be PSP exclusive, but it looks like something worth playing at this point.

I'm hoping "SHAMPOO UMBRELLA" makes an appearance.
