Shmup costume ideas?

So - I'm off to Bestival in a few weeks. It's an awesome UK music festival, and the main day is always fancy dress. The theme this year is Space, so I'm really tempted to do a shmup-based or inspired costume (it's either that or Patrick Moore).

So any ideas? So far I'm thinking a nice black leotard covered in popcorn enemies, 'bullets' made of table tennis balls sprayed pink, some kind of hat based on a boss, and then a ship from a cave game at my feet. There must be better ideas!

Better bulk up son if you want to have a physique like them Cho Aniki studs. Just j/k'ing around. I'm sure your better half wouldn't mind having you built with such a musculuar physique anyways, spadgy. There's the possibility of entering them bodybuilder competitions, y'know. ^_~
