Do these PAL PS2 games have NTSC/60Hz option?

Post by gundamalpha »

Very tempted to get these games but want to make sure they have the better 60Hz option:

1. Persona 4
2. Person 3 FES
3. Mana Khemia Alchemists
4. Ar Tonelico 2
5. Shin Megami Tensai: Digital Devil Saga 2
6. Atelier Iris 3
7. Growlanser 5

Or any site that can answer my questions? Thanks

P3:FES doesn't have a 60hz option, but it is a much better conversion than the regular P3 release, runs at full speed and the screen isn't squashed.

I haven't played DDS2 (mine is still sealed) but the first PAL DDS came out after Nocturne (which had a 60hz option) but was only 50hz and very slow.

Mana Khemia = yes
Persona 4 = no (which is strange since Odin Sphere got a 60hz option when SE localized it)

For the other games you can try asking on gamefaqs or on the developer/publishers forum, if they have one.

P3 and P4 are the only retail games you should buy, but get the US versions. They fucked the Ar Tonelico II port up so bad, you'll have to get the undub and patch to enjoy it. Atelier Iris 3 is pretty mediocre as well.

I haven't played any of the others.

Digital Devil saga 2 does not have a 60 hz option.

I looked into it and bought a US version.

Do you have Lucifer's call as that does and it's also a great game in the Megaten series?

Thanks guys :)

I've never played any Megaten game before.. except that JP only Soul Hackers. Seems like PAL region didn't get proper treatment for Atlus games like Square Enix's :(

Lucifer's Call (or SMT: Nocturne) should be really cheap now. I know the US version is expensive.. it had a reprint which was on play-asia for a few months, but that sold out & the price is back up to $70 or something.

IIRC they are the same game basically.

I don't recall Growlanser or either of the Ar Tonelicos being released in PAL versions.

My PS2 is chipped and will allow me to force 60hx out of PAL games so it may be worth going down that route.

Can't be much for a chipped PS2 these days.
