BulletMagnet mentioned it in his PS1 Shooters Article.

If you can get it for 10 it's not bad, but it usually goes for a good deal more than that. Btw, thanks for the promo, Bill. :)

Thread necro time: Kyuiin is coming to US PSN via MonkeyPaw. The company certainly does seem to like the weird stuff.

Too normal, probably...then again, they managed to haul GaiaSeed over, so who knows.

This. I'd buy a PS3 for it.

This.

Actually, cynicism aside this might be good for having some more shmups on PSN. I suppose it's not quite like Rising Star Games and the Cave games getting on the Xbox 360 but it's a start nonetheless.

Here's another article but with negative comments about the game:
http://blog.hardcoregaming101.net/2010/ ... kyuin.html
Apart from this article on HG101 blog, most people favour it as an uknown shmup gem for PS1. From the few minutes I played it, it wasn't something special to keep my interest.

Funny... I didn't find it great-looking, but kept thinking "at least it's not Harmful Park". Some rather imaginative visuals in this one. Everybody interested in games art should see.

You think Kyuiin looks better than Harmful Park? What is wrong with you…!?

Not as much better as more interesting. From character designs to just about everything else. The kind of graphics that look better in motion than on stills. Sensory overload.

The snowflake maze is particularly brutal. Didn't have the patience to make it past that part.

For such an unknown game from a random no-name developer called Media Entertainment, it's very well made and even has an anime opening FMV. The scoring system nicely encourages high-risk play.

You think Kyuiin's graphics are better and more interesting than Harmful Park?

We're talking about the same Harmful Park right?
