MAME problems

Post by pseudo »

hi, more of a software thing than a hardware one... but whatever 8)

so im pretty new to mame, it runs pretty well (albeit overcomplicated, with necessary downloads of parent roms which are usually not listed so you have to find out what you need yourself etcetc) but i have one problem
occurring on all versions of mame ive tried (ive tried like 4) that i dont know what to do about

so NVRam is supposed to save high scores for your roms when you quit out of mame right.. my scores are NEVER saved. when i go into the nvram folder the games that i have played do indeed have nvram files for them made (for instance ddpach.nv)... so why dont they load my scores?

The modern way of doing this is to enable auto-save in the mame.ini file.

When you quit out of the game, its state is saved and then reloaded when you start it up again.

Doesn't work for every game (yet), but it's the supported method with current versions of MAME whereas the hiscore.dat method is deprecated.
