Stalker -Shadow of Chernobyl

Post by NAVVARR »

Anyone here play Stalker Shadow of Chernobyl.

I'm really enjoying it- its one hell of an absorbing atmospheric game. -At the same time, I can't quite figure it out- the game seems bloody huge- enormous- so much to do in it. I've done the first few missions and feel like i've only scratched the surface of it.

Any thoughts? -anyone else played it and what did you think of it.

Incidentally, I initially found it incredibly hard, got killed all the time, now I've got a few more weapons and I'm getting better at it.
hoots mon- crivvens, help ma boab

yes, awesome atmosphere, grim as fuck. never babysits the player which is rare these days.

the followup (clear sky) i tried but it seemed pretty buggy/fucked up. maybe ill give it another go sometime if theyve fixed it with patches.

Twiddle and I played the hell outta this game, I think he played it more than I did though :o

Good stuff, although buggy and lots of fun with the third-party guy making updates for the lighting (I always played with Float32's or whatever it was called). Never got the sequel / prequel though.

I bought it off Steam when it got really cheap. I just can't get into it. The gameplay doesn't really do it for me. Running around large expanses with only a couple bullets at any given time, and constantly having to go into my inventory to move stuff around or use healing items, just not that fun. I'm sure some people like the survival aspect but I don't.

You can bind keys to use bandages or healthkits. I rebound "b = bandage" to something very close to my use key.

Also, I hacked the game files to give myself a thousand pounds carrying capacity. It's not straightforward to do (there are multiple variables related to maximum carrying, i.e. a maximum amount you can carry before you can't run, and a maximum amount you can carry before you stop walking), but it's worth it.
