The game discs are identical for every region. The save files are universal too. Probably the neatest outcome of this is that you can play with the original boss names by simply changing the language in the 360 system settings. I like my dictators named Vega, damn it.

Yeah living in Hong kong and coming back i used to get really confused by people calling M.Bison balrog and Balrog vega and . . . right now im confused.
But its been a while now and im well and truley westernized to shit.
Just got done playing SF IV for a few hours.
It's great, I only wish you didn't have to unlock characters. I really have no interest in playing arcade mode.

Over the years the various companies have come up with a few different excuses as to why they do this - market control, content creator wishes, licenses for different countries being owned by different companies, piracy control, etc. Recently the piracy prevention one seems to be the most common, despite the fact that it makes the least sense.
