Mario Meets R-Type?

Post by EddyMRA »

The first two levels of the very first R-Type have been converted to platformer levels in Mushroom Kingdom Fusion, as World 6-2 (Bydo Station):

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VdZiPJwTA4Q
WIP video of Arthur of Ghouls 'n Ghosts trekking through what is Stage 1 of R-Type 1. Dobkeratops appears as a midboss, and the level transitions to what is stage 2 (Bydo Caves).

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Lk16BAIPU10
Video of the nearly complete level. Luigi fights Dobkeratops (now with a fixed-camera), treks through Bydo Caves, and battles Gomander, including the Outslay snakes. Gomander's second form is a recreation of the fight against this same boss in R-Type Final, where you have to go inside Gomander and attack its internal core.

Apologies for revivng a fairly old topic, but here's a new video of Wario in the now-complete R-Type platformer level:

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SF1ZKr_z7bo

I encountered a few glitches in this playthrough in World 6-2 (Bydo Station) I accidentally threw a key into the wall next to the famous pincers. I just picked up the playthrough in the next room.

Also, to fit this video under YouTube's hard-coded 11-minute limit, I increased the final internal Gomander fight to 275% playback speed to bring the whole video under 11 minutes.

Wow, Arthur picks up and chucks that big armored dude (once inside) like pulling a radish in SMB2.

I'll admit I was skeptical when I saw the topic, but this really is damn cool. Nice work :D

I'm surprised Arthur isn't picking up a bunch of BS weapons like in other "Ghost and" games. Bonus points for making the holy water not suck.

This is awesome, but tbh I think you would never be able to benefit from making this game. Even if it was sold at Comiket (Japanese doujin game festival) it would be out of the picture because it rips off too many game elements.

That's a fangame for you. It's made for fun and as a side hobby. We do not intend to profit from this. We never have.

I'm actually working on this with about 10 other people. Gameplay may look dodgy now, but that's because the game's still in beta phase.
